Chapter Nineteen
"Do I have to wear this?" I complain to Gwen as she shoves the dress from my brother in my face.
She smiles, "Yes Kat, I'm sorry but you do. Uther has requested it."
I let out a deep breath, "Arthur's going to give me hell for it."
"I don't believe that."
"Yeah, yeah. I can put the thing on, but then can you do my hair? All I can do is throw it back."
She nods, "Of course... Kat."
She almost called my Lady.
Good catch there Gwen.
I throw the dress on and come out from behind the changing... cover... thingy.
"Remind why I have to wear this again?"
She laughs, "For the banquet! There will be five kings there, and you do not want to embarrass yourself and your kingdom by walking in there in your silly armor."
"That doesn't sound like such a bad idea..." She gives me a look. "Ok, ok, fine. Make me look pretty or something."
She smiles, "It'll be my pleasure."

I walk into the banquet hall next to Morgana, with Gwen trailing a few steps behind us.
I can sense all the heads snapping our way as we walk in. Gwen did my hair in a simple French braid, with a few perfectly curled strands of hair framing my face. It would look good on anyone but me.
The only weapon I have on me is a steel knife, I feel practically naked with no weapons on me.
On my head, of course, I wear my golden leaf crown. It's basically my way of saying yeah bitch, I'm a princess. Even though I don't look it and you've never heard of my kingdom.
He's looking at me, I can feel it. I look up, and my eyes meet his. A smile plays on Arthur's face as he watches me come in. I take my respective seat at the table, which is a rectangle with a big space in the middle for entertainment. Morgana takes her seat next to me, and I find Arthur sitting right across from me.
I can tell by the look in his eyes that he's impressed, not that I understand why.
A jester comes out, and starts breathing fire and shit.
Been there. Seen that.
Except the thing was breathing it in my face, trying to kill me.
"It's not enough to please just the gentlemen of the court," he says. He turns toward me, Morgana, and this girl Vivian from one of the other kingdoms."Now, I have a spectacle for the ladies."
Oh yeah, good luck pleasing me.
He conjures butterflies from nowhere, and everyone in the room claps. Save me. I roll my eyes.
My eyes find Arthur's and I mouth "Ameture." He smiles and shakes his head at me.
"What's this?" The jester says. "Lady Vivian." He comes over to her, and pulls a butterfly from behind her ear. "It must have mistaken you for a beautiful flower."
Everyone claps, and I roll my eyes again. Dumb ass sorcerer. Learn some better, more original tricks.
My eyes fall on his hand as he opens it, to reveal a lock of golden hair.
Well that's a tad sketchy.
His eyes meet one of the kings at the main table's eyes.
A smirk forms on my mouth, this peace banquet just got a hell of a lot more interesting.
