It was a bumpy ride on the way over to Sammi's house. Neither of the girls needed any serious medical attention, well both needed stiches but it was an easy fix in the ambulance, but nothing was critical to be needed to be seen at the hospital. I notified Sammi's mom on the way over about what happened during the incident and assured her that her daughter and my sister were okay. I swear, I thought that woman was going to have a heart attack when I first mentioned the accident.

The three of us; Melissa, Sammi and I, sat in the back while Sydney was up front driving. I sat up top of the gurney while the girls sat next to each other on the bench right next to it. We were all quiet. I didn't have any words to say, and I'm just assuming that both of them were a little shaken up by what happened today. To be honest, I was still a little achey in some spots after that jackass thought it was the greatest idea to tackle me to the ground. I only hoped the whole situation with the accident will be cleared sooner rather than later.

Eventually, Melissa looked up at me, catching me staring at her. I didn't realize I was zoning out and had my attention on her until we made eye contact with each other.

"How are you feeling?" I asked her and she only shrugged.

"Well, how about you?" Melissa asked back and I did the same: shrugged. My mind has been wandering so much today that at any time, I could completely lose it all.

Ryan, stupid work, and Patrick. But mostly both of the guys. Such a handful to deal with and technically, I only have to deal with one on a regular basis compared to the other.

Melissa continued to keep looking at me. She had a puzzled look as her eyebrows knitted together, trying to figure me out. "I heard what Ryan said to you before we left," she said. Both of her eyebrows fell back into their normal spots.

"What's so important about that?" I asked.

"Well, we both know Ryan so well. He's stupid and an asshat whenever it comes to you and Patrick." I rolled my eyes. "Oh, Mackenzie. You worry too much, he's just trying to make you see Patrick from a different point of view and that's only affecting you on how you feel towards him and to Ryan as well."

"But what about that-"

"That girl is Patrick's younger sister, Mackenzie," Melissa cut me off to speak. I gave her a look and in return, she scowled back at me. "I think you should trust me since I may know a little bit too much about everything Blackhawks."

"Do I want to believe you? Ryan isn't putting you up to this, right?" I questioned just to get some clarity out of this situation. Ryan gives me anxiety whenever Patrick comes into the conversation like he's trying to manipulate my mind to think differently of the hockey player. I already do. He plays hockey and I want to get away from that. Period.

"Oh come on, I know too much about hockey and the Blackhawks. You're my sister, Mackenzie. I wouldn't lie to you about anything that involves Patrick since I know how much hell you've been going through with so much," Melissa said. Her eyes seemed sad only because I didn't believe her about the blonde girl we saw earlier with Patrick.

Well of course I believe her. She's my baby sister.

All three of us in the back haven't said a single word since the conversation of the blonde girl with Patrick today. Only Melissa and Sammi were having a conversation with one another quietly. Too quiet to where I couldn't hear a single thing they were saying, it was all mumbling and no audible words.

My phone started to vibrate in my jacket pocket. I pulled it out to see that the caller ID displayed Patrick's name. Without any hesitation, I declined the call so he would get sent straight to my voicemail. A little while after that call, Patrick once again tried to call me and again, I declined the call.

I don't need no sympathy from him on what happened today. I thought to myself, feeling the hotness in my cheeks from embarrassment and a little bit of anger. For many reasons, though.

My phone went off again. For the third time. What does Patrick want for goodness sakes? I left my phone in my hand, I looked down to at the screen to see it wasn't Ryan, but Ryan? Why? He's such an asshat to me, but at the same time, he wants to treat me so well.

After the fifth time went off from all of these calls, Melissa and Sammi ended their conversations or put it on hold, to look over at me. "Sorry, people are just willing to call me today," I laughed nervously.

"Are you going to at least call them back?" Melissa asked me.

"Depends," I replied. "On my mood and if I want to even to talk to them. Period."

My phone hasn't rung since Patrick was the last call on my phone. After seven more phone calls later from him and Ryan. Hopefully they got the memo of I don't wan to talk to them and I'm too busy to talk.

The rest of the drive back to Sammi's house was quiet, as in my phone stopped ringing for the last ten minutes of the drive. Thank the lord. I guess both Patrick and Ryan got the memo after some unanswered calls and a few voicemails that I may or may not check later.

Once the ambulance stopped in front of Sammi's house, Sydney opened the back from the outside so the three of us in the back could hop out. Sami went out first, then my sister and then me as the caboose.

Sammi's mother was waiting on the porch in front of the house. She had her arms crossed across his chest and a very concerned look on her face, too. I don't blame her since her daughter has been only driving for a couple of months since receiving her licenses.

I walked up to the front porch with both girls while Sydney stayed back with the ambulance, waiting inside of it on the driver's side. Both Sammi and Melissa walked inside the house without saying a word to the mom or a goodbye or anything like that to me.

"Thank you for making sure the girls were safe on that call, Mackenzie," she said to me.

"No worries, Linda. I'm just as relieved as you are that it wasn't more than cuts and bruises," I said back. "I don't think it was Sammi's fault anyways, but that accident will be looked at to see who was at fault."

No witnesses came forward at the scene anyways, regarding the crash. Who knows.

"Well I gotta get back to the house. I'll come by and get Melissa tomorrow night after shift," I told Linda and gave her a reassuring smile. After that, I turned around and made my way back to the ambulance and hopped into the passenger side.

"I want breakfast," Sydney said. "Let's get back to the house to see if anyone made breakfast."

Just thinking about breakfast made my stomach grumble a bit. I wonder who made breakfast? Ryan makes a mean omelette so I hoped it was him.

The ambiance in the ambulance was complete silence. I glanced over at Sydney to see that was focused on the road and never noticed me looking at her. I turned my attention back out the front and sighed to myself. I closed my eyes and took in the silence.

Again. My phone started to vibrate in my pocket and I groaned. "For goodness sakes, I don't get why Ryan and Patrick can't just leave me alone for at least an hour or even a whole day?"

Sydney finally looked at me when I complained about getting "booty calls", or whatever, left and right from two guys. "They kept calling me earlier on our way over to Sammi's house. I thought it wouldn't stop."

"Oh, guy trouble? You can't have both of them, it's not fair," Sydney said.

"Oh shut the hell up," I scoffed and rolled my eyes. I can't even handle both, let alone one of them.

I only assumed that it was either one of those two calling me. After the first time my phone went off, it went off again a couple of seconds later when I didn't answer. I pulled my phone out of my pocket to look at the caller ID. It wasn't either Ryan or Patrick, but I felt the color of my face flush out just by looking at the number.

"Syd," I said, my voice shaking. "We're taking a detour back to the firehouse. Take us to the hospital. It's urgent."

I can't believe it. It happened already...
