Chapter 11: I Love You

Merida's POV

Game day finally finished and we all went home. I had my dinner, jumped around with my brothers then went to my room. I took a shower and got ready for bed. While I was propping up my pillow I got a text. It's from Hiccup? It said, "Meet me early at school tomorrow. It's important." I replied back, "Sure! Btw how was your date?" After a few minutes I got a response, "that's what I need to talk about. Early! Tomorrow! I need someone to talk to." Woah. Well that sounds really urgent. "Okay...Good night!" I texted with a quick reply, "Good night *smiley face*" lol. Well I do love emojis. I laid on my pillow wondering about tomorrow. Hope everything's okay.

Next day...

I woke up early took a shower, got dressed in my denim shorts and tank top, went down for a quick breakfast and rushed out the door. I would usually walk but since it's urgent I decided to drive. I haven't driven in a long time. I hope I remember.
15 minutes later...
I parked my car a saw Hiccup's car was there. Knowing him he would be at the tree so I headed there. The first thing I noticed, besides an almost empty compound, was a 'dead-looking Hiccup'. I tried to be a bit cheery like Anna and greeted him with a pleasant (with I don't like to do) good morning. He just mumbled morning as I drop down next to him. This dude sounds lazier than the walking dead. "Bro what's wrong?" I asked, totally not sounding like the usual me. Then he told me his Titanic Tale...

"Someone's gotta teach her a lesson!" I shouted in anger after hearing what she was up to. "Relax Mer!" Hiccup said. I sighed, "Look! At least you found out sooner rather than later. And in my opinion she doesn't deserve someone like you." He didn't look any better, "But that's not what in bothered about," he said, "it's because she said 'Who would ever be with me?' That's what hurts."

I broke the silence after a moment, "Well she is just a selfish, messed up minded *****! What gives her the right to play with people's feelings?!" I shouted all my anger out. Hiccup still said nothing. "You know, she is wrong..." I began calmly, "I mean your smart, funny, full of life, have A DRAGON, and not forgetting that your warmhearted, sweet, caring and cute..." I just let everything out as Hiccup was in shock. He saw my emotional side once but I guess since this is pertaining to him he has to be shock. Also I said he was cute.

A small smile crept it's way up his face as he chuckles, "Thanks... but do I know you?" He smirk giving my the questioning face. I stood up in front of him and said in a formal behavior, "No you don't. My name is Merida DunBroch and I'm very pleased to meet your acquaintance." I extended my arm for a handshake.

Instead he grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug. "Thank you so much Mer! I honestly don't know what i would do without you!" he whispered. "Anything for you. You helped me when I needed someone to talk to, now I'm helping you. I'm always here when you need me." I said to him. "Oh and Mer, one more thing." He said. "Hhmm?" I asked not wanting to let go, he took a deep breath, ......

... "I love you!"

I was frozen. Literally! I couldn't move. Suddenly, loads of thoughts came rushing into my mind. Hiccup's always been there for me. He's my best friend. I trust him with my life. How did I not see this before? "I love you too..." I whispered hugging him tighter. With those words I got an entirely new feeling. I felt free and at peace. It's like those words were fighting to get out of me for years. We pulled away from what seemed like a century and he asked, "Are we gonna tell the others?" "How about just keep this our secret?" I asked. "I agree. We both know why." With his reply I smiled a gave him a peck on the cheek as I felt my cheeks getting warm. I looked at him and he was almost as red as an apple.
