I've been sprinting through the desolate streets for almost ten minutes. I'm growing more tired as I take each stride.

I should've participated in gym instead of hiding in the locker room.

I can't stop. I won't stop. I have to get back home. By now, they've probably noticed I'm gone and are out looking for me. I hear sticks cracking in the dark forest to my right. I see an old telephone booth down the road. I pick up my pace and get in the booth. I lock the old glass door a crouch down to the floor. Whatever is out there, I don't want to see it. Whether it's one of the boys, one of the darks, or some wild animal, it needs to stay away. The night grew silent. Almost too silent. The only sound was my breathing which was becoming unsteady thanks to my nerves. All of a sudden, I heard another stick crack, then another, then another. The unknown creature was coming out of the woods. I huddled into the corner of the booth and brought my knees up to my chest. My eyes searched the edge of the woods and saw no movement.

That's weird...

I was brought out of my thoughts by a white blob moving on the edge of the woods. I squinted my eyes to get a better look. To my surprise, it was only a fluffy bunny hopping around. I smiled to myself. It was so cute.

--FLASHBACK--

"C'mon Sammie! It'll be fun!" I exclaimed to my best friend who was scared to go into the woods due to wild animals. At the time, there were many unexplained deaths which caused Sammie to be scared over every little noise.

She shook her head, "No way Bay! Hey, that rhymed!" she said with a sudden smile on her face.

I playfully rolled my eyes at her child-like behavior. She always had a bubbly personality. That's why we got along so well. We were like twins.

"Fine, then I guess I'll go alone," I said nonchalantly. I turned on my heel and walked further into the beautiful forest.

"Bailey Ann Clark! You are not going in there alone!" she yelled imitating my mom.

"Then come with me, Sam! Nothing's gonna happen! It's daytime, plus we have our phones if we need to get a hold of someone."

She exhaled a defeated breath and walked towards me. I smiled at her, and even though she was annoyed my be she returned the smile.

We walked and talked for an hour or so until we started back home. A silence fell between us because there was nothing to really talk about anymore.

"Did you hear that?" Sammie asked stopping in her tracks and looking at our surroundings.

"No?"

Then I heard sticks cracking and leaves rustling. We both looked at each other with wide eyes. The noise came again and again.

We were both too scared to move. We went back to back so nothing could sneak up on us and searched for movement. I finally saw something approaching us. I started walking towards, ignoring Sammie's attempts to stop me. I came upon a white bunny.

"Hey little guy," I said in a soft while bend down to pet it. I motioned Sammie over and we sat petting the little bunny.

"Can we keep it?" Sammie asked.

"Yeah, but my parents won't let it live with us," I said. My parents never let me have pets.

"I can keep it my house," Sammie replied. I nodded in agreement. We picked up the bunny and carried it home.

--END OF FLASHBACK--

I wiped the tears off my cheeks. No is not the time for me to cry. I have to stay on guard. As my vision focused again, I saw a figure walking on the sidewalk. I got the feeling he wasn't safe. I held my breath in case he was a dark because he would be able to hear my breathing. As I sucked the air in, he turned to look at me. Red eyes stared into my big brown eyes. He started walking towards me. I've seen him before, but where? Then I remembered. This is the same man that was with Tony. He must have heard my breathing speed up because I could see his smirk.

He tried to open the door, but it was locked. I began to grow relieved. He might be human. Just then, his fist collided with glass. Shards of broken glass hit my face. I could feel the blood dripping from the cuts. He grabbed me with big hands and threw me over his shoulder. I pounded at his back with all my force, but he didn't drop me.

I did the only thing I could think of; I screamed. "Harry!"

Harry's POV

I was still running, trying to find her. I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere. Her scent was getting weaker. Then, I heard a scream. Not just any scream though; it was Bailey's scream.

"Harry!" she yelled.

I ran towards the scream as fast as I could. I could hear the others running towards her scream too. I stopped. Her scent, her rapid breathing, she was close; very close.

"Bailey!" I yelled. "Scream again!"

"Harry!" she yelled weakly. I knew she was crying by the tone of her voice. "Help me!" she whimpered.

I could hear her sobs. I turned the corner into an alley and saw her in the arms of Chris, Tony's friend.

"Let her go," I growled.

"Sorry buddy, but your princess has to go," he replied with an evil laugh.

"Harry, please," Bailey whispered while crying.

I took a step forward but was stopped by Chris.

"Come any closer, and I'll snap her neck right here," he threatened placing his hands on her neck.

"What can I do for you to spare her life?" I asked.

"Let me kill you," he replied.

I looked at Bailey then answered, "Fine."

He dropped Bailey and came towards me. Before he placed his hands on me, he was tackled. I looked to see who tackled him and saw that it was Bailey.

"Don't touch him!" she yelled. She straddled his waist and connected her fist to his face.

I was shocked to see that she tackled him and had the nerve to punch him.

As quickly as he was tackled, he was up on his feet holding Bailey by her neck.

"Don't ever do that again, you little bitch!" He yelled in her face.

I ran up to him and pulled her out of his grip. She fell to the ground, coughing and trying to catch her breath again.

Before I had the chance to punch him, he was being beaten by my friends. I smiled knowing they would kill him. Yes, that may seem cruel, but he's a dark. I bent down and scooped Bailey into my arms. She buried her face in my chest as she sobbed. I heard a snap, and knew they killed him.

"Take Bailey home mate. We need to burn his body," Zayn said.

I nodded and carried Bailey home at vampire speed. As we entered the house, I heard soft snores. I looked down at Bailey and saw that she had fallen asleep. I sat down on the couch with her still in my arms and fell asleep as well.
