I board the hovercraft. I try to get my head together, focus on what I was raised to do. I must protect Cato. My new mission, is to keep him alive. The lady comes and puts in our tracker. In a few minutes we'll be in the arena, saying goodbye to our designers and then going up in the tube. I just sit in my seat, trying to hide my emotions. Okay here's what I will do: Kill everyone in my way to get to the cor nocopia, Get with the careers and protect Cato.
We arrived. We are guided into our rooms. I find Brutus waiting there with my designer. I wear my jacket and my designer leaves. The announcer says," One minute." Brutus looks at me.
And says,"You can win. I know it. Gold told me about your skills.You're a born victor, and lastly I like to thank you. For volunteering for Gold, She's my only niece. Thank you. For protecting her."
I say quietly,"Your welcome. But I won't win. And I'm not planning to."
"And why ever not?" He asks.
"If I want my other bestfriend to live, then I can't win can I?"
He slowly nods as if he understood but then asks," Your other bestfriend?"
"Cato," I reply gently.He quietly gasps.
Then says,"I'm sorry, and good luck. Should I tell Gold all this if she asks about what you said right now?"
"Yes. Tell her please, and tell her she's beautiful, and she's an amazing friend, and never forget me."
"Of course." The announcer says." 10 seconds."I walk toward the glass tube, and Brutus nods as the door closes. And I rise onto the platform.
