FROM WHERE WE LEFT OFF IN THE LAST CHAPTER
CHASE'S POV
He laughs heartily. "Son, when isn't my baby girl on your mind?"
I chuckle. "Point well made Pop."
"Maybe you should be more specific. In what way?"
I take a deep breath before answering. "My condition is trying to make a come back. I think it might be time to try that friend of yours."
It's silent on the other line for a few beats. "Son, He's always listening. All you have to do is speak. He loves you and He hears you, every time."
I place my head in my hands. "What if that doesn't work Pop?"
He laughs heartily once more. "Well son, if God can't help ,then our problems are way bigger than your condition. Think of it this way. What if it does? God has a track record of never failing." He laughs once more. "You've tried everything else, what do you have to lose?"
I chuckle humorlessly. "My heart, and the one who keeps it; your daughter."
He hmphs on the other end. "True, but what will happen if you do nothing?"
I stop and think for a second. "Nothing, or worse."
"Exactly."
"Pop, if you were me, what would you do?"
He sighs with a smile. "I'd try Him son. Do you think my baby girl and I would stand so firmly by Him, if we didn't believe that through Him we can do all things?"
I pause in my own thoughts. "Alright." I nod and stand. "Alright, what do I have to do?"
He claps once and chuckles. "Son, you have no idea how long I have waited for you to say those words. "Repeat after me and mean every word. Heavenly Father, Creator of all..."
"Heavenly Father, Creator of all..."
"I come before you because I realize that I am a sinner, in need of a Savior..."
"I come before you because I realize that I am a sinner, in need os a Savior..."
"Jesus, I welcome you into my life, to be my Lord and Savior; both now and forever..."
"Jesus, I welcome you into my life, to be my Lord and Savior; both now and forever..."
"Amen."
"Amen."
He laughs once more on the other line. "Praise God."
"That's it?"
"Yes."
"Aren't there supposed to be more words than just three sentences?" I ask in confusion.
"No. God is very simple. People are complicated. It wouldn't have mattered whether we said three sentences or seven words. He acknowledges it all. And between me and you. If it's any longer then three sentences, you're doing too much. Keep it simple."
I nod in approval. "I like simple."
He laughs. "Then you are a man after God's own heart. Welcome to the family man of God." He chuckles once more.
I can't help it. His jovial personality has me laughing as well. "Thanks Pop."
"For what son?"
"Everything. You could have shunned me for a my past, my condition, my race, whatever...you didn't though. You accepted me as I was-am. Thank you."
