" Morning Nova" I tell the two year dark bay colt as I stroke his head. I walk away after greeting him to continue helping saddle the horses for training. " morning Extinction" I tell the average sized three year old filly. Extinction is a 16 hands tall liver chestnut filly with a set of cornet bands on her hind legs and a snip who's a half sister to BD. Undefeated with five starts at two including a nine length win in the breeders cup juvenile fillies turf. Her efforts earned tied her with another filly owned by the Piperson's named Pharaoh's Destiny who's a full sister to American Pharoah who won the breeders cup juvenile fillies by ten lengths for American champion two year old filly. I quickly bush off the filly to rid her off the bedding that clings to her coat. " good luck out there" I tell Jack as I give the jockey normally confined to a wheelchair due to a injury years ago a leg up onto Extinction. Anna on top a four year old dappled grey mare named Mists Of Camlot is waiting for Jack. I grab the tack of Merlin a three year old dappled grey colt who the Piperson's bought as a yearling in England and came over for the breeders cup races where he dominated in the juvenile turf by four lengths. Last year the Piperson's dominated the breeders cup races with wins in the Breeders cup juvenile fillies( Pharaoh's Destiny ), Breeders cup juvenile turf ( Merlin), Breeders cup juvenile fillies turf ( Extinction), Breeders cup distaff ( Hunger Games ) and the breeders cup turf ( Prince Of Hope) as well as the runner up in the breeders cup classic( After Shocks), Breeders cup mile ( Galaxy Of Stars), Breeders cup tuft mile ( Heaven's Oath) and breeders cup sprint ( Royal Diamond). " morning Merlin" I tell the greying colt. He's heading back off to England in a few days in a attempt for either the English or Irish triple crown making this is final workout in North America. Finally it's time for me to tack up Nova and give Anna a leg up onto him. " I want to go a mile and Anna I'm pairing you up with Robert on After Shocks" Willifred tells Anna. " are we trying to ruin Nova? And he's not even two" I tell Willifred. " he's mature enough for it and Nova can hold his own' Willifred tells me. In the early morning light Nova's normally extremely dark coat is lit up lighting up the perfectly blending mix of dark browns, chestnuts of varying dark shades and black hairs changing it to a soft brown. After shocks who's three years older then Nova and just as tall is a large completely black stallion. The two take off sending dirt flying everywhere as the two duel it out. It may just be a workout but Nova decides to go into full gear. Five feet and eight inches of power proves to be effective as Nova's stride lengthens as he strides away without effort from a stallion who missed the classic by only four inches. Six furlongs in Nova he's not slowing and is continuing to speed up despite having ran most of it in a dead sprint. Seven furlongs After shocks is fifteenth lengths behind and Nova is still continuing to speed up. Nova hits the eight furlong marker but keeps going. " what's Anna doing?" Willifred grumbles as Robert on After Shocks return to us. Nine furlongs in Nova's run and he's still increasing his speed with each stride. Entering the tenth furlong his speed starts to level out yet he's not showing any signs of slowing. Evelven furlongs and Nova is still going strong. Finally he passes the twelve furlong marker and allows Anna to slow him down. " what we're you thinking?" Willifred yells at Anna one they return. " he wanted to run" Anna tells Willifred. " well either we got a colt who's going to run himself to death before he ever races or the next triple crown winner. Any bets? Willifred asks as he looks at his timer. " what do you mean because Nova's talented but I don't think he has enough talent for that" I tell Willifred. " I stopped the timer when he stopped and in less it's broke Nova went a full mile and a half in two minutes and nineteen seconds. If it's correct you both know what it means" Willifred tells us. Two minutes and nineteen seconds BD went the same distance in two minutes and twenty two seconds and that was a world record. " I'm betting on triple crown winner" I tell Willifred.
