Cail," Dean calls, his eyes not leaving the sheriff. "C'mere."
Cail doesn't hesitate, but immediately hops out of the chair, bolting forward. He makes a wide circle from the sheriff, knowing better then to get within grabbing range as he makes it to Deans side, his arms wrapping tightly around his legs.
The sheriff glares, his hands in the air, a muscle ticking in his jaw.
"Where's Samantha?" he demands. "Where -?"
"As if you don't know," Dean snaps, his finger itching to pull the trigger. "As if you didn't know what Nancy would do to her."
The sheriff whitens a little.
"Is she....?"
"What about Mommy?" Cail gasps, his eyes widening as he looks up at Dean. "Where's Mommy!?"
"Mommy's fine," Dean says quickly, taking a brief moment to glance down. "She's in the car, she's safe. But we gotta leave, now."
Mommy!
Dean didn't give two shits about killing the rest of the Lamia's, not right now. He just came for his son, and now he needs to get you to a hospital before any damage to you was permanent.
"I'm going to leave now," Dean says after a moment, still staring down the sheriff. "I'm taking the kid, and I'm leaving. So long as nobody stops me, nobody'll get hurt, is that clear?"
"Perfect," the sheriff says between his teeth, glancing down at Cail's frightened face.
It wasn't supposed to be like this.
He was just supposed to have his sons home for a few weeks, it should have never escalated like this; you should have never gotten hurt, not you, of all people. And poor little Cail....
It wasn't supposed to be like this.
God, why didn't he listen to his mother when she told him not to marry his wife?
But how was he supposed to know she had to turn people's hearts into milkshakes to survive?
How common was that?
He was just normal!
And his sons should have been normal!
Not monsters!
Not -.
A shotgun goes off.
Dean jerks, and he whirls around, aiming behind him automatically. A Lamia howls as its sent flying backwards through the air, yellow scales exploding as the shotgun shell tears through them.
Sam steps out of the shadows, huffing.
He'd been the back up, just in case this didn't go smoothly.
"Boys!" the sheriff gasps, and he bolts forward immediately, rushing toward whichever son it was sprawled on the ground, howling still, the wound already healing.
Fucking families of monsters, man.
Dean grunts, and then turns, scooping Cail up under one arm as he runs for the Impala, shouting for Sam, who follows on his heels.
"Mommy!" Cail gasps, Dean wrenching open the backseat. He drops Cail inside, turning defensively, the shotgun aiming into the darkness as he hears something.
Cail jerks on the blanket that's covering you where you lay in the floorboards, and his hand closes over your shoulder.
"Mommy!"
"She's okay," Sam gasps, sliding to a stop by his door and jerking it open. "Just passed out. We need to get her to a doctor -."
They only had ten minutes left to get out of the area before the ambulance arrived, more if they were lucky.
