"And that's when Troy and the others arrived," you sigh, leaning back in the chair at the table, your entire body aching; it's all you can do to sit up, your eyes keep drooping, all the adrenaline having left your body and leaving you empty.
Dean and Sam look at you worriedly.
Sam is sitting across from you, his hands clasped tightly, while Dean paces back and forth behind him. Cail is asleep in one of the two beds, wearing cowboy pajamas and curled around his one-eyed teddy bear Nancy had gotten him brand new on his second birthday.
You were all trying to keep your voices low not to bother him, which wasn't hard when you were so exhausted you words were slurring together.
"What the hell was it looking for?" Sam mutters, running his hands through his fluffed hair, circles starting to form under his eyes. "I can't imagine why it would come to your house."
"Because it saw me with you two idiots when it attacked me," you sigh, rubbing your eyes, wincing when you brush the scratch above your eye. "Whoever it is knows me, I guess it thinks we're in cahoots together or something. Probably came to find you."
"So it's our fault?" Dean mutters, but he's not accusing, he's horrified. "It attacked you two because -?"
"It's not your fault, Dean," you sigh at him, shaking your head. "You know that. It's just something that happens."
"But it attacked our son -."
"Keep your voice down," you snap, glancing at Cail when he shuffles, his little face pinching as he rolls to his other side, putting his back to the three of you. "Don't wake him up, okay? He's gonna have a hard enough time dealing with all this bullshit!"
Both Winchesters wince.
"Jesus," Dean mutters, running his hands down his face. "This is fucking ridiculous. What the hell - why can't we find these fuckers?"
"They're obviously staying in the area," you mumble, your brain started to fizzle out. "So they're someone.... someone who...."
You couldn't think anymore.
You just want to sleep.
"Get some rest, (Y/N)," Sam sighs at you from across the table, rising to help you stand yourself. "We'll talk about this in the morning, okay?"
You nod your head, agreeing. You grimace, trying to keep weight off your shoulder, and between him and Dean you make it to the bed Cail lays on. You sigh as you flop down beside him, burying your face into the pillow, and you can feel one of the brothers pull the blanket over you as you sink into the darkness.
Dean watches you, his expression sad as he glances between you and Cail, who was already snuggling up into your warmth, as if sensing you were near and needing your comfort.
He really loves you.
Dean straightens, and steps with Sam outside, both of them sighing.
"What are we gonna do, Sammy?" Dean mumbles, sitting down heavily in one of the lawn chairs they'd left outside. "I never meant for her - why the hell did she have to live here?"
"Shit's just complicated, Dean," Sam sighs heavily, stretching his arms over his head. "I just can't believe you had a kid together, even still."
"He looks a lot like me, doesn't he?"
"Dean, he's the spitting image of you as a five year old," Sam rolls his eyes. "You couldn't deny he was yours even if you wanted too."
"I wish she woulda told me, I -."
