Chapter-3

I decide to stop thinking about what Mathew was thinking of me. I went to table 4, our pack's table. I saw Bella, Mike, Eddie and Emily already seated.

"Fresh beans with potato" says Emily cheerfully.

"Back to the good ol' days of shitty food" says Mike.

"It's not that bad!" Says Emily defensively.

"Guys! It doesn't really matter! What matters is that we're all here to have a good time with some interesting gossip" says Bella.

"Yeah! Shea, why don't you tell us about your little encounter with those new hotties?" Says Eddie.

"Ah.. It was nothing really. The girl, Suzy wanted to join us for lunch" I say as I take a seat next to Eddie.

"Right. Where are your new friends?" asks Mike.

I see Suzy and Mathew approach us from a distance.

"There they are" I point out.

"Hey. I'm Suzy. I believe we're in the same class? I hope you don't mind us joining you" says Suzy.

"No problem at all good looking" says Mike with a wink.

"I'm Mathew by the way. Suzy is my girlfriend" says Mathew while looking at Mike.

"So nice to meet you!" Says Bella.

They take their seats. We ask them about how they thought of our city coming from a very small town. They said they liked it better here. We then chatted a little on some teacher having  an affair with another teacher and how we'd found out about it. All sorts of this talk.

After a while we decide to go meet some of our other friends in different classes. We tell Mathew and Suzy that we'd make them meet our other pals. But before that, Suzy asks me to show her the way to the washroom. As we start to walk, we see Mathew coming towards us.

"Hey! Sorry to disturb y'all but I've got to talk to you Sue" says Mathew.

Suzy gives him a look as such to walk away but he doesn't.

"I'll be there in a minute Shea" she says.

They walk a few steps away from me and start arguing about something. I can hear them a little. They tried to keep their voices down but I could hear them.

"You really wanna do this?" Asks Mathew.

"Do we have a choice? You know what will happen if we don't" says Suzy.

"Maybe we can just..."

"We'll talk later. We can't let anyone know"

Anyone know what?

They start to move further from me. I can no longer hear them. After about a minute, Suzy comes back to me.

"I'm sorry. We were just discussing about how we're gonna tell our parents about us. We've been going out since 6th grade. It's just that we think they'd object. You see, our parents know each other so well but they've always thought we're only friends and nothing more. My dad is a little conservative and I have a feeling he'd not like the thought of us going out"

"Well that's okay. If he knows that you two really love each other and if you explain to him that it was always more than just friendship, then I guess he'd understand"

"You don't know my dad. He'd prefer my man to be of his choice" she says looking upset.

"Ah... You could just run away" I say grinning.

"Hah! It's complicated. Anyway, thanks for listening"

"Nah! Don't thank me. We're friends now" I say reassuringly.

She smiles and we hear the bell ring. She tells me to go to class and that she'll catch up with me later.

"I'll meet you in a few minutes. I'm going to just make a call. It's an important one. Just tell the teacher that I had some paperwork. Will you?" She says.

"Sure. It's Spanish now. This teacher won't really care about your presence" I say.

"I hope so!"

I then start to walk towards the class. But then I start remembering Suzy and Mathew's conversation.

You really wanna do this?

Do we have a choice? You know what will happen of we don't.

It didn't make sense. Suzy told me about how they were planning to tell their parents about them but I'm guessing they weren't really talking about that. Something seemed fishy.
