Chapter 5: Answers and More Questions

"Tyler what happened?" Clay asked looking over at Caitlyn and William. "You Caitlyn!" I yelled holding Caitlyn's cold lifeless body as my tears dropped o her clothes. "What did we do? We where just fighting a witch!" Exclaimed Ethan. "Exactly!" I yell back. "Tyler calm down and explain." Said Kiera. I couldn't calm myself. I couldn't take in what happened.

"Caitlyn's soul gem was completely black. I tried to use this grief seed, but it didn't work. Then her gem shattered and the witch appeared." Larissa said calmly before falling to her knees bursting into more tears. "What a shame that this was her faith." Said Kyubey slowly walking over. "What happen to Caitlyn?!" Asked a Atalia on the verge of tears. "She simple didn't clean her soul gem, so she transformed into her true feelings." Said a Kyubey taking the shattered gem.

"Hey you kids what are you doing?! Get out of here you sillies the library is closed." Said a man popping out his head and returning into the building. "We need to talk somewhere else." Said a stern Larissa. "What about Caitlyn?!" I asked still letting year fall. "I'll take her to the hospital." Said Clay picking her up and rolling away still in his magical form.

After awhile we all meet at the park, even though it was snowing. Clay shortly returned. By that time we where all in our own clothes. We all had heavy coats and hats on. "Okay Kyubey what fuck do you know?!" Kiera asked demanding. "Oh little old me?" He asked. "No more shit..... I want the truth!" Larissa barked. "Okay okay." Sighed Kyubey.

"Your friend Caitlyn fell victim to despair. She then went on a rampage killing tons of witches and not cleaning her gem. She then used the last of her magic in that battle. Becoming a witch." Kyubey was very blunt about it. We felt like we knew this, but still we took shock. "W-witch?" Asked a shaky Clay.  "Indeed once a magical boy or girl power is used up they become a witch releasing all their energy! For us incubators to use." Said the white creature smiling. "Wait..... So then you used is for energy?!" Larissa yelled mad. "Indeed, it's the cycle of life." Said Kyubey.

I then heard a splat and a sizzle. Larissa had taken out her acid ink and shot Kyubey killing him. "Larissa!" Yelled Atalia. "There now he can't harm anyone else." She huffed. "Wrong, kill me as many times as you please, but there are so many of use you will never be able to." Said Kyubey popping out of the snow. "W-what?" Larissa looked baffled.

"Anyway back to what I was saying. Yes we used you and many others for energy. Once a magical boy or girl uses energy, they need grief seeds to restore it. But if they go to long without any grief seeds then their soul gem will become tainted and the inside of it will be released." Kyubey finished. "W-wait what do you mean the inside will be released?" Asked Ethan as his breath become visible. "By that I mean. That there is a world inside your soul gem. When a soul gem is completely tainted it is released, it becomes a labyrinth." Said the furry creature.

"What about the soul gem's holder?" I questioned but already knowing the answer. "That's simple they become a witch." He said bluntly. "So that mean every witch we defeat...." Said Kiera unable to finish. "Was once a magical boy or girl." Said Larissa shaking, obviously not from the cold. "Indeed. You have been killing other magical children." Kyubey says blending in with the snow. "Wait then what's with the soul gem?" Asked Ethan some how taking this calmly.

"When you make your wish and a contract is sealed then well.... Your soul is taken out of you and transformed into a soul gem! Catchy name isn't it?" The monster asked. That's when it clicked. That computer witch, it must of been William........ And that fairy with the black hair..... Was Caitlyn.

"Kyubey....... Then if that's true then what about the body...?" I asked. "They become hollow. For example if you get stabbed in the heart you will live, because you didn't damage your soul gem. But say for example, your soul gem was stabbed and shattered. Then you would die." Said Kyubey with a straight face. That's when I remembered. Those people who where crying after we defeated... We killed them. I felt tears fall on my lap. That's why they would always say I'm sorry. But what about the other word? "Hey Kyubey?" I asked letting tears fall down. "Yes?" He asked. "What's an incubator?" I question him. He seemed to confused for a minute and surprised. "I am an incubator that's another name I have been given." Kyubey simply said. The others seemed to be to focused on the other matter at hand. It made sense to me. Those witches we fought have been a living breathing person a one point, but consumed by despair or their gem being tainted. "Incubator." I mumble silently.

"I'll be off now I have more matters at hand." Said the incubator walking away in the snow and blending in. The only thing you could see clearly was his foot prints. "I'm so stupid." Clay cried. We turned to him. "W-what do you mean?" Atalia asked rubbing her hands. "My-my wish...... I traded my soul for such a stupid thing." He fell to his knees crying. "W-what is your wish?" I asked. "I wished for all the pain of life and stiffening to go away..... But this is much worst........ I can't stand it! I lost my soul for this." Said Clay grabbing his hair and crying. All we did was sit there and watch...... What have we gotten ourselves into? I question myself.

It became night sooner then expected. I went home that night barley get a wink of sleep. The next morning I was brought into the police department and questioned about Caitlyn's death. "I was at the library. We where leaving and then Caitlyn suddenly fainted." I exclaimed softly. After questioning I slowly walked out to see my friends all waiting along with a crying Caityln's mother. This is hell I think. No matter what no one else needs to die..... No one.
