The Salvation Princess

Chapter 3

As soon as we left Mary's house,there were people in masquerade walking to the palace. I was glad we weren't the only ones walking,because if we were it'd be really hard to explain. I had my arm looped through Lynn's with my hand on the inside of his elbow,like every lady is taught to do.
  "Make small talk." I said to Lynn.
"Why do I have to?" He asked.
"Because you're the gentleman." I said through clenched teeth.
"So, did you here about the princess latest whereabouts?" He asked, loud enough for the people around us to hear. I swear I could them leaning in, trying to hear the answer.
"I heard that some guards saw them leaving a cave this morning." Claire said.
"Well then you heard correct." Lynn said.
"I knew that princess had some flaws,but I never have I ever thought she'd sleep in a cave." I said, and heard Page and Kait try not to laugh.
"Well I think she should turn herself in." A man said by Claire.
"Maybe she has her reasons,and is trying to prove herself innocent." I said, and Lynn tightened his arm around mine.
"What she's trying to say is that the princess of course is innocent,but I'm sure King Valor has some ideas to do with her." Lynn said,and I shot him a dirty look.
"Of course, the King deserves someone as fine and the princess," a guy beside me said, then leaned in and said," how about you?"
"How about me what?" I said, feeling anger well up in my chest.
"Your pretty enough that the King is going to pay attention to," he smirked," so you better keep your eye on her." That was directed at Lynn.
"Oh, you think fair maiden is of my courting," Lynn said,chuckling," sadly she is my cousin, also she does as she pleases."
The guy beside me grabbed my shirt, and I gave him a hit right between the eyes. He fell on his butt and looked at me in surprise.
"Mind what you grab at." I said." Also who."
"That's not the worst she could do." Lynn said, and Page and Kait were bursting with giggles.
I took Lynn's arm again, and knew that I was ready to face the guy who'd killed my parents, and framed me and my brother. I also knew he would have something's planned tonight that would be unexpected, only if I'd known what was about to go down.
