I sat still, watching as my sister caked makeup on my face, regretting ever letting her help me get ready. We were only going to a park, but she was making me look like we were headed to a night club in Miami.
"You know, I think I'll just stick with the all natural look." I said quickly getting out of the uncomfortable chair she had sat me in over an hour ago.
"Are you Selena Gomez?" She asked
"Who-"
"What about Demi Lovato?"
"You know I don't know these pe-"
"Oh your not? Well then all natural isn't going to cut it." She shoved me back down in the chair and sat on the bathroom sink in front of me. "What's wrong with what you have on right now?"
"Listen, I love you, and you're great at this. Honestly. It's just, we're only going to the park. This just seems like too much.." I said giving her a slight smile. "Could we just tone it down a bit?"
"I mean...I could just give you some winged liner..." She mumbled turning slightly and grabbing some makeup wipes. I nodded and she got down, wiping all the makeup off that she had pasted on my face. I sighed happily finally being able to feel fresh air on my face. When she finished she turned back to her bag and grabbed a small black pen and some tape.
"What's the tape for?"
"It's called a hack, look it up." and with that she taped the sides of my eyes. It felt weird, and even worse when she applied the wet black liner. As she finished and peeled back the tape, my eyes widened.
"That's awesome!" I squealed happily. The wings were perfect! But my sister didn't seem as amazed as me. She packed up her bag and walked out.
"Tell me if you need me to help you pick out clothes too." She yelled to me as I stood up admiring myself in the mirror.
"Alright." I smiled at myself and ran back up to my room. When I got to my closet, I went for the one thing I knew was moderate for the occasion.
Stop. What? Why does it matter? HE'S AN ACQUAINTANCE.
I shook my thoughts away and continued. "I always try to look good when I go out.." I mumbled under my breath. I grabbed my skin tight floral crop top, and red flared skirt and pulled them on, making sure the skirt covered any stomach that would have showed from the shirt. What can I say? My self confidence isn't super great. Then I walked back to my closet and grabbed my new white vans, slipping them on and brushing my hair. I felt .
"Ana!" I yelled hoping for her approval before I left. She came into my room and stared at me nodding.
"I mean, it'll work..." she said slightly defeated, "BUT I still think the makeup I did before was better." I laughed lightly as she left my room and walked downstairs. My grandma smiled at me.
"Where are you headed sweetie?" She asked standing to her feet and walking over to me, lightly grabbing my hand.
"I'm just meeting someone in the park." I answered warmly.
"He better treat you right." She returned to her seat and continued with her book, smiling, almost seeming proud of herself. I smiled sheepishly and grabbed the car keys.~~~~~~
I walked through the park and sat down on a bench, not seeing him yet. He must be a bit late. I thought taking out my phone to check it. Nothing.
"Regan?" I heard a voice say. Without looking first I smiled and put my phone away, and standing.
"Hey-" I stopped myself and covered my mouth as I saw a man wearing dark clothing, sunglasses and a hat stood in front of me. "Cody? Is that you?" I asked quietly.
"Yeah." He said giving me a smile. I tried my best not to laugh, but of course despite my efforts to hold back, a loud laugh slipped out.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." I managed to spit out over my laughs.
"What?" He asked laughing with me.
"Did you forget to tell me you were Channing Tatum or something?"
"Oh, the outfit." He chuckled. "It's just..." he stopped "I have no idea." The slight laughter came back and he looked down at the ground.
"Sorry," I said stopping the obnoxious noise my body calls a laugh "I've just never seen something like this." He shrugged and smiled at me.
"Eh, it's fine." After a minute or two of silence he grabbed my hand, tugging me over to the empty swing set. "You look really beautiful." He said sitting down on a swing. I sat down on the swing next to him blushing lightly.
"Thank you."
"And I look like a drug dealer." He chuckled again, and so did I. I looked over at him and grabbed the glasses, lightly pulling them off of his face.
"There's nobody here but you and I," I smiled "So you don't have to hide." with that I slipped the glasses onto my face and turned my head to him. "But I do..." I huffed dramatically. I could hear laughter and tried to keep myself from laughing with him.
"What are you hiding..." He played along. I looked back at him and laughed taking the glasses off and shaking my head.
"I don't even know." He smiled shaking his head and reaching for the glasses. I yanked them away before he could and shook my finger at him.
"You'll get these back later." He frowned at me "For now I wanna be able to see your face."
