        The sun peeked out as we sat in the cold sand talking to each other. This was the first time, in a very long time, that I enjoyed a conversation with anyone but my family members. We started to shift into the subject of music, but before either one of us could speak again his phone buzzed. He rolled his eyes and grabbed it.
"Hello?" He said into the phone. I couldn't make out what was being said back, yes I was eavesdropping anyone would, but the look on his face said enough. This call was one of those, hey you need to come home, calls that a parent or sibling would give. "Alright, I'll be there soon." My suspicions seemed correct. He hung his phone up and scratched the back of his head.
"You gotta go?" I asked smiling at him. He nodded before speaking again.
"Yes," He continued "but if you want to continue this you could give me your phone number" I chuckled and nodded. Unlocking his phone he handed it to me and I typed in my number.
"You better text me." I said handing it back and getting up, dusting the sand off of my clothes.
"I will, I promise."
"Good."

~~~~~~
My phone buzzed, almost causing me to fall off of my bed. I grabbed it, expecting a storm warning or an amber alert. But no, it was a text from an unknown number.
Hello.
I typed back the only response I could think of.
New phone, who dis?
What can I say? I have the mentality of a five year old. I laid my phone down and just stared at it. Not remembering what I was doing before I got that text. As I waited it felt like hours till I had finally got a text back. In reality, it was only a good two minutes. AGAIN, mentality of a five year old.
Is this Regan? Sorry if I have the wrong #
Maybe it is and maybe it isn't, who's asking?
Another few minutes passed by, no text back. As I thought more and more I realized who it was. I picked up my phone to ask but I was interrupted by a knock at my door.
"Yeah?" I yelled, signaling that whoever it was should tell me what they needed, not come in. But being my sister, Ana didn't know the difference.
"You wanna play Just Dance or so-" she got cut off by my phone vibrating. She stared at me in awe, "Is someone texting you?" She squealed. She bolted for my phone, but I grabbed it before she could. "Don't be a bitch, who's texting you?!" I looked down at my phone.
I'm Cody, if this is Regan, I really enjoyed talking to you this morning
I smiled at that and looked back at my sister whose hands were over her mouth.
"Did you make a friend? OH MY GOD DID YOU MEET A GUY?" She half screamed not letting me say one word. As she went on with her hysterics I decided to text him back.
Hey, sorry I didn't realize this was you lol
"Regan! If it's a boy please tell me he's cute, or at least a 6, like no less than a 6. Wait, make that 5, because I'm pretty sure you don't have super high standards."
"Hey! That's not cool asshole! And for your information, YES, it is a guy. BUT I just met him this morning." My phone vibrated again and my sister stared.
"Don't fuck this up for yourself.." She whispered sneaking over and sitting next to me, watching my phone intently. I stared at her confused, then she cut off my thoughts "LOOK AT THE TEXT IDIOT."
I told you I'd text you
Oh I didn't think you actually meant that-
My sister stared at me with an annoyed look on her face, shaking her head at me she stood up and shut my door. "We need to talk about this."
"Talk about wha-"
"You suck at everything, so I wanna help." Pacing back and forth, I could tell she was thinking pretty hard. Give me everything you know about this guy." My phone vibrated again and she rushed back over grabbing my phone and reading it before I could.
"What are you-"
"Hmm, I think it's too early to read if he's a fuck boy or not-" I took my phone back and read the text.
Why wouldn't I text you? I would never let such a pretty girl slip away from me that easily
I blushed. Wait, why was I blushing? I barley knew him. I met him on a dark beach just this morning after falling into water. If anything he's just an acquaintance, at most a newly made friend. Nothing more, Nobody to blush over. I mean.. He wasn't bad looking..and he was kinda funny-
"UM EXCUSE ME." Ana yelled waving her hand in front of my face
"Oh, sorry I was just-"
"What are you going to say back? It's been like two minutes! You can't just keep him waiting when he just told you that you were pretty! Especially when your phone tells him if you've read the text or not! Fucking moron."
"Okay, you're 16, I'm 17. I'm older, which means I'm wiser. I don't appreciate you talking down to me like tha-"
"I've had 10x more relationships than you've ever had." she stated matter-of-factly. I paused for a moment then snapped back to reality.
"We're just friends..BUT what do I say?" She laughed at me.
"Just say something cute-sy," she stopped "Like 'aw thank you, you're so sweet'." I nodded and quickly typed her exact words, sending it and sighing happily, glad I had her. He texted back almost right away.
Would you want to hang out again tomorrow? In the daytime this time? I would love to actually be able to see you clearly.
My sister smiled, "You better say yes to this guy." I nodded and agreed to hanging out again before looking back at her. "You don't have to say anything, I love me too." and with that, she left my room.
