I was being tossed and thrown around in the wave. Things were running into me, scratching me. It felt like I was in a washing machine with metal. I couldn't find air. That's what scared me the most.

Just hold your breath Charlotte. Don't breath in the water. Don't breath in the water.

I tried calming myself. Tried to just think that I would resurface soon and be able to breath in fresh air. Tried to think happy thoughts.

I suddenly rammed into a huge piece of something. Metal or wood? I couldn't tell. But what ever it was had stopped me, and I finally had something to grip onto and pull myself up. What I saw though almost made me want to go back under.

The ground was gone. The trees were gone. Buildings, roads, all of it was swallowed up by the wave.

Tears started leaking from my eyes. I couldn't bare it.

"ABBY! LIAM! NIALL! HARRY!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I hulled myself on top of a tree that had fallen over. I kept shouting until I had no breath left. I was about to give up when I heard something.

"Charlotte! Abby! Niall! Harry! Where are you!?"

I snapped my head in the direction of the voice. Objects were still hitting my body, almost knocking me off the tree. I gripped my hands even harder, trying to stay on.

"LIAM! LIAM I'M HERE!" I could see a figure floating toward me, pushing against the strong current.

It was Liam.

He grabbed hold of a metal electricity pole that was stuck firmly into the ground.

"CHARLOTTE! Charlotte let go!"

My eyes widened. No. No I can't let go. I'll go back under. I'll...

'Charlotte please! Please let go! I'll catch you baby I promise! You just have to let go!"

I breathed in and out, trying to calm myself. I looked at Liam, then at the tree I was holding onto for dear life.

With one last breath, I let go.

Sorry that was a really short chapter! I've posted two already today! I'm kinda in a zone right now! The last couple chapters have been pretty long so I thought a shorter one would be nice, but the next one will be longer I promise!

I really hope everyone who is reading The Wave is enjoying it! I've had a blast writing it so far!
