A tall young man, nearly the same height as Shujinkō, stood looking over the ledge with the sunrise on the horizon. Beside him stood a young girl with an Obelisk Blue suit on and long, green hair flowing in the wind. The boy had silver, half-spiked hair and was wearing the suit for Ra Yellow and a gold-colored fedora on his head. Both were Senior students.
"Airon, do you feel that? There's a strange feeling in the air," the girl asked the boy, Airon. His attention rested on the rising sun, and his expression was serious.
"Yes, Hakumai. I can feel it too. Something seems familiar about this feeling. But, it doesn't feel right," Airon replies.
"Seems like my favorite spot is becoming quite popular, nowadays," Shujinkō suddenly appeared, nearly laughing at the fact that so many random people kept arriving at his ideal place for tranquility. The two turned to face him, as he walked toward them. "So, you two can feel it as well; that sense of evil nearby."
"The famous Shujinkō. What an honor. Yes, we can feel it. It feels oddly familiar, to me, though."
"I know exactly what you mean, Airon. I feel the same way."
"You're 'the Invincible Duelist of Duel Academy?'" Hakumai asks Shujinkō.
"I suppose, I am."
Someone's right hand came wrapping around Shujinkō's left hand and holding it. This person was Mia. Shujinkō was surprised by her appearance, but once he realized it was her, he locked his fingers, holding her hand, as well.
"And you're Mia, correct?" Airon asked her.
"Yes... Are these two also friends of yours, my Shujinkō?"
"If they choose to be, yes."
"Shujinkō, tell me, have you ever had a Double Duel? I know that you and Mia are a great pair of duelists. I'd like to see how great you are, as a team, against Hakumai and I."
"No, I've never had a Double Duel before. It certainly sounds interesting, though. Mia, would you like to be my partner in this duel?"
"Yes... I don't mind..." Mia agreed to join him.
"Great, let's stand over near that field. It's more spacious there," Airon decided the location of their duel.
Shujinkō, still holding Mia's hand, guided her along to the battlefield of the duel. The projectors of everyone's Academy Duel Disks rocketed to the ground around them, as they stood in their positions ready to duel. The four Duel Disks were set as the projectors came on. The Life Points for both teams were combined to equal 8000 total. Airon briefly explained the rules. In a Double Duel, the limit of Monster and Spell or Trap cards was set to 10. Each time a player received damage to their Life Points, it was subtracted from that person's own 4000 Points, as the 8000 meter also declined. Duelists on the same team were allowed to use Spell card, Trap card, or Monster card effects on each other, as well as either both opponents or a single opponent. The duel began.
Each duelist drew their beginning 5 cards into their hands. Thanks to a game of rock-paper-scissors, Shujinkō and Mia were allowed the first moves. Since Shujinkō's team was starting first, only Airon's team had been authorized to go into Battle Phase this turn. Shujinkō notices that Mia seems nervous. He grins and calls out to her. "Don't worry, Mia. We will win this duel." Her nervousness faded, and she was totally prepared for what was coming. Shujinkō focused on his hand once more and made his moves. "First, I'll place one card face down in Defense position. Next, I place three cards face down in the Spell/Trap slot and end my turn." Mia's turn now began.
"First, I summon my Chaos Servant in Attack Position," a Chaos Servant appeared on the field with an ATK of 1000. She paused for a moment, afraid that she might ruin Shujinkō's strategy. This feeling soon went away when she saw him look at her with determination and nod his head, as if to say, "Go ahead, Mia." She continued her turn by placing cards in the Spell/Trap slot on her Academy Duel Disk. She deducted 1000 of her own Life Points to activate a Spell called Portal of Chaos. Shujinkō grinned, realizing what she had done. She ended her turn.
