Week 7, Day 2:
Amy got back late last night and we didn't have a chance to talk. She was a tad bit tipsy so she didn't even notice my hair that's been dyed a few shades darker than it naturally would be. I was texting Hunter for a while but we never discussed anything about us. I'm still confused about my feelings towards him. I find him intriguing but I'm not sure if I could deal with his mood swings. As I try to convince myself of my lack of love for Hunter Brown, my mind wanders to his gorgeous green eyes and his sunny brown hair that falls slightly over his eyes. He's beautiful and I look like trash next to him. I tried to suppress the memory of his lips pressed up against mine on the beach as the waves crashed around us however I gave up long ago.
Usually Amy has to drag me out of bed every Monday but today is different, I've been up for hours and Amy is groaning in bed complaining about her pounding head and how non of it is worth it. I snuggle under my covers until the last possible moment biting at my short, cracked nails. There's a bit of periwinkle nail polish remaining from last week but I proceed to chip that off. I leave Amy in bed as I pull a grey and blue flannel over my black tank top and struggle into black skinny jeans.
"I'll tell Mr. Lewis that you have a migraine or something and won't come to class today." I say to Amy as she pulls her pillow over her head. I take that as a yes and dash out the door, grabbing my galaxy backpack on the way out. I have five minutes to get to class and I decide that breakfast is unimportant.
I sit down in my regular seat – far left of the room, center of the circle – and pull out my laptop. It's been a while since we've had a day to just free write and I haven't been so excited to be here since the first week of school.
The time passes so quickly that when Mr. Lewis taps me on the shoulder I think he wants to check up on my work. When he tells me it's time to leave I'm thoroughly disappointed and slouching off to dance class.
"Hey, nerd, how'd your weekend go?" Alex asks me when I enter the studio.
"Pretty normal and boring," I lie. "How was yours?"
"I went out with Andy, my boyfriend, and we went to the cutest little café downtown. You and Hunter would've loved it."
At the mention of his name my heart skips a beat. On that note, class begins and Alex and I don't have any more time to gossip. I was saved by the bell.
"Hey there, gorgeous." Someone whispers into my ear. "Barely recognized you with your brown hair. But how could I not recognize my Clare Bear?" My Clare Bear. I turn around and face Hunter, a beanie placed messily on top of his uncombed hair and stereotypical hipster glasses are covering his beautiful eyes.
"Oh, hey Hunter." I'm playing it cool but my mind is screaming. Nothing has changed between us, it was just a tiny kiss...that happened to last quite a while. He slides his arm across my shoulder, just like her does, but this time I feel weird little sparks rise up from my skin where his fingers crossed. I close my eyes tightly and mentally berate myself for being such a cliché teenage girl.
"You want to grab lunch or something?" He asks.
"Yeah of course!" I jump at the opportunity, considering he's never actually joined us for lunch. "I can call Amy and Jakob and see if they want to join us, if that's okay with you."
"Actually, I was hoping it would just be the two of us." Holy hell he knows my weak spot.
I slide my phone into my pocket. "Yeah sure. You want to grab a sandwich from the coffee tent or head over to the cafeteria?"
