Hipster guy meets nerd girl at school on tumblr (Instagram?). Start talking through dm/kik. Live in same state or one lives in UK one lives in US.

They meet somewhere?

Go to same high school ?

Hunter has girlfriend but doesn't know how to break up with her so basically he is cheating on Clare when/if they start dating ?? (only if one lives in UK)

How they meet? : Julian has problems at home (with his parents, etc.) and he has depression. He comments something on Instagram and only Clare cares enough to dm him (or something like that) to make sure that he's okay

Plot:

The 4 of them hit it off instantly. But soon, Clare finds Hunter cheating on her with this British Beauty. Finds scars at some point before that.

Problems with Jakob falling for Phoenix but he's actually gay not pansexual. And Phoenix is aromantic so she doesn't like him back...maybe not asexual so she'll have sex with him or something.

Something about Clare's dead twin brother being named Hunter. She's had anxiety about it for her entire life and hunter helps her.

Amy could be asexual? Add budding romance around page 30 with Jakob.

Cut Clare's hair to match Amy's? Dye it some crazy color?

Clare and Jakob become good friends, he helps her with public speaking.

Jakob is actually really depressed but doesn't show it. Hence the poem masks that will come in

Jakob falls in love with Hunter that's why he's so hostile towards him and sometimes Clare

Jakob tries to kiss Hunter

Jakob and Clare kiss because they're friends and it's after they figure stuff out about Phoenix and Amy

Amy rapes Phoenix

Hunter is mad at Clare because he thinks she caused Phoenix to cut

Clare catches Hunter purging

Clare thinks Hunter's anxiety and depression is cute (her romanticizing it is bad make sure she knows that after a while)

Clare and Hunter kiss: page 44. Clare promises to take Hunter back to the beach someday.

Make sure Clare grows throughout the story but don't let it go too quickly

Elaborate on Clare's past a lot more.

Watch Clare get worse as Hunter (appears to) get better with depression/anxiety.

Fandoms help Clare get better with her anxiety, hence the name.

Clare gets call from her mom before she finds Hunter's bruises and scars

Hunter cheats on Clare

Hunter dies at the end, commits suicide when Clare tells him she's leaving (back to Miami?). She gets a call in the middle of the night from Amy (or Jakob) and she tells her the news. She flies up to Michigan or forever distances herself. [Amy calling could be her final apology/plea for forgiveness or show that she's not so awful after

all]

Clare finds Hunter's suicide journal

Hunter's last words, "At least now I'll be happy" or "(I'm here to) finish what (I) you start(ed)"
