The Next Day

Marco...

The boy opened his eyes and saw complete darkness around him. Panicking, he got to his feet, only to realize he was already standing. He looked around and saw only black.

Marco Diaz...

He quickly turned his head to see who was behind him but saw nothing. And as he turned back around he saw something purple glowing in the distance. He squinted and saw it was a pair of purple eyes. Frightened, he turned around to run only to find himself face to face with said eyes.

Hmm...you don't seem to be completely weak. Maybe you can be Sucessor...

Marco couldn't speak even if he wanted to. All he could do was stare as silver armor gathered around where the eyes were. Finally a mask that looked like a dragon brought itself over the eyes. Purple light shined through the dragon's slits. A large purple sword rose out of the darkness and into the knights hand.

Now let us see if you are worthy!

He drove the tip of the sword into Marco's chest. Darkness crept up Marco and covered his face. He began to feel drowsy and started to pass out. But as he passed out he heard the knight say,

If you are truly worthy, you will live...

Marco's Room

Marco...Marrrrcoooo...MARCO!

"AH!" Marco cried out as he bolted upright in his bed. He looked around his room and saw a girl with blond hair and blue dress waiting for him. She had striped socks with monster shoes and matching horns as a headband. This was Marco's best friend from another dimension, Star Butterfly. She stood their impatiently tapping her foot.

"Come on Marco! We're gonna be late for school!" she yelled at him.

"Alright, alright Star. Just give me a minute." he said to her. She frowned before leaving the room and closing the door behind her. He got out of bed and out of his pajamas. He put on his red hoodie and black jeans. He went to his bathroom (now clutered with Star's stuff since she moved to there) and got himself ready in the mirror. As he brushed his hair He noticed something odd.

"Have my eyes always been red?" he asked as he looked and saw the normal brown eyes now looked a bit red. But it wasn't as if he got no sleep or pink eye. It was as if his eyes had changed color completely.

Worthy...

Marco turned around quickly but no one was there. He turned back to the mirror and his eyes were back to its brown color.

"Man, what's going on?" he quietly asked. Suddenly there was banging at his bathroom door.

"Marco hurry up!" Star yelled.

"Ok Star! Calm down!" he yelled back. Then his eyes widened as he realised what he just said. He heard a 'hmph' before he heard thumping down the stairs. He sighed as he finished brushing his hair and walked to his room to grab his backpack and ran down the stairs.

"Man, took you so long?" Star asked as she grabbed two breakfast bars and tossed one to Marco.

"Sorry, I just didn't sleep very well." he half-lied. He did not sleep very well but he didn't want to worry Star about what he saw last night and what happened this morning.
