As the week went buy, strangely enough Nick been keeping me company since Jamie was gone. Even though Trixie would be on his case to why he is hanging out with me, he'd always find an excuse and a reason to spend time with me. Sometimes Riley was in our activities, but it was mostly the two of us. Tuesday we went bowling and I learned that I suck at it as Nick seemed like a pro. I was pretty jealous, but I always laughed at myself whenever the ball went to side besides the pins. On Wednesday the three of us went roller skating and I completely fell on my ass at least ten times before I finally got it right. It was my first time skating ever and it was a blast. Friday me and Nick went to Dave & Busters in New York City. It was like Chuck E. Cheese for older teens and adults, but we went directly after school so they'd allow us since we were eighteen. It was the best day after, but mostly because I won a lot of tickets and mini prizes such as stuffed animals and mugs. Nick only got one stuffed animal, which was funny.
Spending so much time together within that week made us a little bit closer. Riley was still my best friend, but getting to know Nick more made me realize he was such a cool person. It was amazing how two people can become so close within one week of spending time with each other. Obviously it wasn't a date, but I couldn't tell Jamie what we were doing. She was a very jealous person, even though Nick and her were friends themselves. But telling her wasn't an option. Therefore, I ignored all of her phone calls during that week to avoid any conflicts and suspicion; which wasn't a really good choice. Saturday morning was a bad one when Jamie called after three times. It wasn't pretty at all.
"I've been trying to fucking call you all week! I been worried sick about you! Even today I called you at least three times!" Jamie shrieked, making annoying and ear-wrenching statics on the line. It sounded like there was a bad connection over there. She was probably outside. "What the hell were you doing this whole time?!"
"Nothing." I said sharply. "I'm sorry. I was busy."
"You were busy? You were so busy that you can even make one effort to pick up you're girlfriend's calls? What the hell are you busy with?"
"Homework." I lied.
"Homework? So you were home the whole time and decided to ignore my calls, right?"
"No. I was at the library doing homework."
"Since when do you ever go to the library, Rachael?!" Jamie exclaimed.
"Jamie, can you stop yelling at me? You're really making me nervous."
"I'm not yelling." She said with a normal, but sharp tone. "I'm just upset that you've been ignoring me for a whole week. I could understand a day, but a week?"
"See, you're getting mad again."
"I'm not mad." Jamie said impatiently. "I'm upset. Know the difference."
"I don't know the difference, because you yelled at me."
"I didn't-" She huffed angrily as she was losing her patience. "Okay, now you're getting me really pissed off!"
"You get pissed off for anything!"
"Yes!" Jamie shrieked as her voice became raspy. "Because that's the way I am. You get me mad, this is what you're going to get."
"All because I missed some stupid phone calls?!" I exclaimed. There was a sudden pause on her line. Why did I say that? I just gave her a better reason to stay mad at me.
"So now my phone calls are stupid?"
"No. I'm just saying that-"
Jamie interrupted and said, "Saying what? That me being checking up on you to see if you're doing okay is stupid? That being concerned for your well-being is stupid?"
