3 months later...

"We should do something this weekend. You're always locked in your dorm studying. Im tired of you being boring." Pam expresses to me as she chews on a fry in the large food court. We had chosen to go the mall right after our classes and we're now getting some lunch. I gasp almost choking on my drink.

"What do you mean? I am not boring! I just study a lot and don't really have time for other things, but I am fun." I defend myself, laughing at the same time. I know she means well. Pam laughs along with me.

"Ok, ok maybe not boring...you're just selectively fun." she tells me. I roll my eyes and shake my head in disagreement. "I think I need to get you out so you can actually have some real experiences.'' she states "I mean studying is important and hittin' the books is good and blah blah blah, but it's okay to have a little fun.'' she explains to me, talking with her hands.

I understand where she's coming from. These past few months, Pam and I have gotten close and one thing I have noticed she is not afraid to speak her mind. That's definitely something I do admire about her.

"Alright."

"Alright ,what?" Pam looks up at me from her phone screen, and she leans in to hear me more clearly.

"I guess...we can actually maybe...perhaps do this thing you call 'fun'." I give into Pam's wish. She instantly lights up clapping her hands gleefully.

"Freaking finally I have been waiting for this moment forever. I didn't believe you would actually go for this." I sarcastically roll my eyes at her over-reaction."I already know exactly what we are going to do. Theres this party going down Saturday at this guy named Lucas's Frat house a-." I lift my head from the table and interrupt her rambling.

"Whoa, wait. A party? I don't know, Pam...that's not exactly my thing. Besides, I still need to find time to go to a car dealership. I can't have you driving me everywhere and my friend from home, Thomas, might be coming down this week."I ramble, playing with the sleeves of my sweater. She cocks her head to the side and looks at me.

"First of all, it's no trouble at all helping you get around. You're my friend! Go buy a car next week. Secondly, if Thomas does choose to visit, he can come too. How about you just invite him along with us?" She states her opinion. I mean, I guess she is right. "Also,"I look at her as she speaks. "So you mean to tell me there's nothing going on between you and Thomas?" she smirks at me and wiggles her eyebrows.

"It's not at all what you think." I laugh. "Umm there's really not much to say...he's just a really good friend--almost like a brother. I've known him all my life.''

"Hmmm, ok.Plus I actually thought you had something going on with the cute dread head Marcus" she accuses and smirks.

"Wipe that grin of your face," I blush "Marcus--he's a nice guy" I admit and take a sip of my smoothie

"Marcus is the nicest guy!" Pam squeals."Ive known him since our freshman year he's always been a sweetheart .Sanaa you can't you see he's so in like with you it's not even funny."

"He hasn't told me that and we hang out all the time he's had time to" I shrug.Pam playfully rolls her eyes "So you mean to tell me you haven't noticed the lingering looks? The "accidental" brushing up against you?How y'all can be in a group of people and the focus is you?How he has gone out of his way just so he could even spend five minutes with you?You mean you have to hear him tell you so you can know?"

The thought of Marcus liking me causes me to blush but he's grown to be such a good friend and it be a shame to mess a good thing up. "Pam you know how I feel about dating at a time like this .I'm just now really settling into things," I shake my head "Adding a Man into my life romantically would just complicate things."
