Thomas in media

Sanaa's POV:

"Can't believe you came." I mumble as I look out the rear view mirror of Thomas's car, watching Saige leave quicker then he came.

"Well, we did plan this" Thomas turns toward me. "You don't sound very pleased. Should I leave?" he defends playfully.

"What? No!" I stutter collecting my thoughts finally coming out of my dazed state. "Don't be silly," I laugh. "It's comforting to see a familiar face." I tell him honestly as his dimpled smile that I've come to love begins to grow.

"You know, I'm happy to see you too, but I can tell you're not all completely here." He tilts his head to gesture toward me.

"What do you mean?" I attempt to act clueless to what he's trying to get at. "I am here...talking to you."

"Sanaa.."

"Thomas.."

"You're a terrible liar," he laughs while twisting the knob to turn the radio down. "Do you wanna talk about it?"

"Ugh," I say, throwing my head back into the head rest of the seat. "Just been thinking is all. This night didn't really turn out as I had initially planned...at all." I shift toward him as he waits patiently for me to continue. I let out a sigh "I don't want to bother you with my petty problems though. They're not that serious to be honest." I look down at my fidgeting hands.Thomas huffs,

"None of your problems are petty. Im willing to listen...Sanaa," he takes my cold hands in his. I look up at his gentle features and kind eyes that hold so much care. "Just let me hear you out, okay?" I smile, he's always been the kindest person.

"Actually," For a moment, I consider to tell him about Saige. That's what's been really bugging me specifically, but I decide against it ."My friends, you know the girls I always talk to you about?"

"Yes, Pam and Miranda are their names, right?" He questions and I nod in response.

"Yeah that's them," I chew on my bottom lip. "I'm piss--mad that they just decided to up and flake on me. One moment they're for some reason acting like they have some kind of a freaking problem with each other then poof...they're gone, and I'm just left wondering what happened. I mean, I was having fun until they...well ya know." I look back down into my lap still confused and begin to pick at the electric blue nail polish Pam gushed about.

Where could they be?

Thomas begins to ponder the situation. I'm sure he recalls how he found me hiding away in the corner like a wall flower.

"They shouldn't have done that to you, especially with this being your first real party and all. A college party at that." a smirk begins to grace his face. "I mean it wouldn't have been if you had of just came to all the ones I had of invited you to back home." he teases.

"Oh, shut up. Partying with you and your jock friends? No thanks, I'll pass."

"Mhmm, but now, whats really gnawing at your brain? There's gotta be more to the story." Thomas questions, squeezing my hand as he tries to urge me to talk. He always tends to know when somethings up.

I sigh in defeat, he'll figure it out sooner or later, right?

"Saige..." I breathe resting my cheek on the cool glass of the window.

"Ahh, so that's the creep's name that was glaring a hole in the side of my head when I was talking to you in there." I swat at his arm with my free hand.

"He's not a creep," I find myself half way defending him. "Just a bit of a loner besides one friend. Not to mention he's incredibly rude." I roll my eyes. "I didn't even know you saw him." I add as I rest my head on our conjoined hands.

"No, I most definitely saw him. He's not a subtle, easy to miss type of a guy. What I can tell you, Sanaa, is 'that loner' as you want to call him is totally into you."

"Doubtful," I shake my head no. "we've had problems with each other since the day I got here." I assure him.

Thomas lets go of my hand and takes a firm grip of the steering wheel, I quickly look up to see his side profile and his jaw is tightly clenched. He lets out a low laugh.

"Please, he was eye fucking you every chance he got." My jaw drops. His choice of words catches me completely off guard because he's not normally like that.

"Relax T, it's not that deep...besides I saw him longer than you, he wasn't doing...that."

"So naive," he sighs still tense "I know that look." he mutters more himself while looking at his reflection in the side mirror.

I take my hand and place it on his cheek gently forcing him to make eye contact with me. He slowly begins to soften and the unique glow to his eyes returns.

"Thomas, I love how much you care, but it's just not that deep." I say to ease his temper as I graze my thumb over his cheek. I slowly pull my hand away but in the last second he reaches out and gently pulls it back and lightly kisses it. The timid kiss shocks me but I don't react due to it's innocence. Thomas balls my hand in both of his and slowly begins to speak.

"I just don't like some random man looking at you like you're an object ." he pauses and rests his head on our intertwined hands and I patiently wait for him to continue. "When I got in the house, It was so crowded I couldn't make anyone out, the only reason I was able to find you is because I saw him in the crowd and wanted to know what he was so focused  on. He was just...watching you, he was completely locked on you, Sanaa." he shifts his eyes towards me.

I'm at a loss for words and I'm not really sure what to do with this new information. The only time I saw Saige was when he was on the top floor. For awhile it's silent, the only noise we can hear is the loud party goers and the music coming from inside.

"Well, you know what? Don't worry about him. You came down so we could have us time and that's exactly what we're going to do." I break the silence and attempt to lighten the mood. He smiles and finally decides to loosen up his firm grip on my hand.

"What do you have in mind?" he pushes for my opinion on what we should do.

"I mean it is kind of late...so I'm not really sure."

"So what? It's Saturday. What, you got classes on sunday?"

"Funny, no I don't...and you're right.Wanna go get food?"

"Sounds good to me, plus we should probably leave--the police should be here any second now."

Thomas is right. We look over toward the house and we can see people bringing in more cases of beer and I'm sure not everyone in there is legal to drink. I cringe,

"Yeah, lets get out of here." I rush to fasten my seatbelt. He notices my behavior and chuckles.

"Can't have my college student getting in trouble." he teases, pulling out of the lot. It's nice to see his happy demeanor coming back. "By the way," I turn to listen to him. "Nice dress you got there" he smirks.

"Oh, shut up." I laugh at his remark. We sit in a comfortable silence as we drive along the streets of L.A. The music, heater, and the light rain beating the window are the only things we can hear.

For the most part, it's peaceful when you drown out the city sound. I look around and even in the early morning, this city is alive and I'm in complete awe at the huge skyscrapers and many bright lights that decorate this city.

Saige is the only thing that seems to come to mind, although I try relentlessly to push him out. He's so confusing! One minute his presence makes me cringe and that cocky attitude of his irks my soul, and now it's just one of those things you really can never explain. No matter how hard you try.

Whatever happened before he sped off, when we just took the time to really look at each other, it was the first time I really ever paid him any kind of attention. I felt calm in a sense. I don't know what on earth it was.
