Chapter 1
Ronnie stepped onto the cruise ship, a little apprehensive about this whole ordeal. Not only did she hate the idea of a twentieth reunion, but she also hated the idea of being on a boat. "It's only four days," her friends Kara and Kristy insisted, "how scary can it be?" Well, Ronnie thought, it can be pretty darn scary.
"Ooh!" she screamed as the boat rocked slightly from side to side.
"It's just a little side to side action," her friend Maggie snickered from behind her.
"It's obvious you've never been on a boat before," Maggie continued.
Ronnie sighed. Kara and Kristy were encouraging, but Maggie was sometimes like nails on a chalkboard. She began to breathe slowly, determined not to swat Maggie right off the boat deck.
"Welcome, classmates," Samantha Tanner crooned as they walked to the threshold of the cabins.
"Please find your packets on the table over there, arranged in alphabetical order."
Ronnie smiled, but not because she was happy to see Samantha. She smiled because Sam looked a little older than Ronnie and her friends. Ronnie knew it was wrong to think that way, and she silently scolded herself as she walked to her assigned room.
