Chapter 5
"Wake up, sleepyhead, Ronnie heard Maggie proclaim in a singsong voice.
"Just 5 more minutes," she grumbled, "please!"
"So, were you dreaming of everyone else you secretly dated in high school?" Kristy asked jokingly.
"Shut up," Ronnie whined, smiling.
"What's the story? You were secret lovers?" Kara asked. "For how long?"
Ronnie sat up with a sigh. "Apparently, all through high school."
"Wow. What made you two break up?" Kristy asked.
"I'm not sure. I'll have to ask Don Juan when I see him. Maybe I'll get the chance during our special time."
"What?" Maggie squealed. "Is that for what it sounds like?"
"Get your head out of the gutter. I will not be engaging in any type of shenanigans with an almost married man," she countered. "But, yes, that is what Mia intended when she and Josh made these arrangements," Ronnie explained.
She almost laughed when she noticed the dumbfounded look on her friends' faces.
"You should have seen me last night when Josh explained it. I almost hit him!"
"Only you would figure out a way to get tangled up in mess like this," Kristy quipped.
"Yeah, lucky me," Ronnie stated before gathering her necessities and jumping in the shower.
An hour later found the women seated in the dining area eating breakfast.
"Incoming, three o'clock," Kara warned as Mia descended, taking a seat next to Ronnie at their table.
"So, are you ready for your special time with my fiancé?" Mia asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be," Ronnie stated. Kristy kicked her under the table, and mouthed the words, be nice.
Mia went on to explain, "Okay. You get to go up to our suite. It's the honeymooners special. You have until dinner tonight to spend with Josh. There are no rules during that time. For all intents and purposes, he is a single man for the next 7 hours. Any questions?"
Ronnie actually found the whole thing somewhat sad. Why did this woman insist on this torture? Did she get the idea from a bad Lifetime movie? She wanted to shake her and tell her what a horrible idea this was. Although, they had both come this far, with only the obstacle of Ronnie to go. It must have worked out in her favor. Ronnie had no plans of ruining the wedding, either. Maybe Mia was a genius. After all, the thing that drew Josh to Ronnie was Ronnie's brain. It made sense to think he'd be attracted to other intelligent women, as well.
"Nope, no questions," Ronnie answered.
"Go get him!" Mia encouraged, he's up there waiting for you!"
