Chapter 5:

Kennedy's P.O.V.

I finally was able to leave the office after getting everything together for court tomorrow afternoon.

I had plans tonight to go out to eat with my girls and couldn't wait to talk and laugh with them.

My phone rang so I switched on the car phone so I could talk and drive without having to hold my phone.

"Yes Kendrick." I said as I was driving to the restaurant, we were supposed to meet at 8 and it was 7:59. But I know I'm not the only one that's running late.

"You off work yet?" He asked, his deep voice basically vibrating the car.

"Yea I'm going out with the girls tonight remember?" I asked questioning the fact of whether or not he was listening to me this morning.

"Yea,Dynasty Bar and Grill." He said.

"I'm hungry as hell man." I said feeling my stomach tightening.

"I told you to stop fucking starving yourself all day like that. Do I have to start coming up there on your lunch break to make sure you eat?" He said sounding mad.

"Shut up. I don't starve myself all day I just be trying to get stuff done and it's like i forget to eat." I said honestly as I pulled into the restaurants parking lot.

"You can't be doing shit like that baby. You going to make yourself sick alright?" He said voicing his concern.

"I understand, I'm going to start bringing snacks with me."

"Alright have fun tonight."

"I will. Are you at home or my place?" I asked hoping he would say my place.

"I'm at home." He said making me feel disappointed.

I wasn't going to tell him I was hoping he was at my place because then he would just bring up the fact that I'm the one who doesn't want a committed relationship. And I don't want to talk about that.

"Ok. Bye I'll text you when I get home."

"Ok coo. Bye" he said ending the call.

I got out my car locking my doors while going inside the building.

I looked around the restaurant and noticed all my friends sitting in a booth close to the bar.

"We thought you had forgot." Tamara said as I sat down next to JaLyssa

"I was about to call you too." Moriah said.

"No I was coming, just a lot of work at the office and then I was sitting out in the car talking to Kendrick." I said rolling my eyes at the last part.

"What happened?" JaLyssa asked with a confused look.

Tamara and Moriah shared the same look waiting for me to explain.

"It's just that he was mad because I didn't eat all day but I was so busy that I forgot and its just frustrating because he just always wanna act like I don't know how to take care of myself." I said venting to them.

"Girl he's just concerned about you because you know sometimes you be so worried about a case that your mind isn't fully there at times so you forget a lot." Tamara said.

"It's good that he cares I mean as you say he's just a friend so most lil guy friends ain't about to be worried about whether or not you stressing or eating. They just gonna be worried about the next time y'all fucking." Jalyssa said
