There was a clock hanging on the wall above the bed.

"Tick. Tick. Tick."

Lily sniffed, wiping the last of her tears. The time seemed to go by quickly, so was her life. She wasn't going to lay here and count down the seconds to whatever trouble that may happen next. She had to get out of this depressing mindset in order for her to go back to her family, the barn, back to her life. She was going to survive.

"You will be submissive, because if you don't-I will kill everyone you love."

Why was fate playing a cruel game with her? What did she possibly do in her past lives that she had to be cursed with a mate like this?

Her stomach suddenly growled. The last thing she ate was the pancakes and oatmeal her mom made her for breakfast. A sad smile played on her lips at the thought of when she will ever eat her mom's home cooked meals again.

The clock read midnight. Blade should most likely be sleeping by now.

Sliding her legs down the side of the bed, she tip toe her way to the bedroom door. She silently opened the door and peeked out into the hallway.

Where was the kitchen? Lily tried to remember, except she was too busy resisting when she had been dragged all the way through the house by Blade, to remember if she's even seen it.

Silently making her way through the hallway, Lily stopped in her tracks, intrigued at the silver-blue light reflected against the walls. She turned around and followed the source of it, ending up on the balcony, she stared up at the moon.

She sadistically smiled, wondering if her family were watching the moon also, wondering where she was.

Underneath the balcony lied a massive maze. She could make out a marble statue peaking out from the middle. Ares, the God of war, she recognized from her Greek literature class she took in high school. The maze was dark and alluring, intriguing Lily to go in and unmask its deepest, darkest secrets.

Blade, his body leaning against the doorframe, stood watching her. He sensed her ever since she stepped out of her room.

He observed her. All the details, from the way she delicately stood with grace, her wavy-brown hair that blew softly from the night breeze that sent the most alluring aroma to his nostrils, and the curves and edges that seemed to dip in all the right places, just to where he seemed pleased. What happened next was out of his control. He made his way behind her, tracing her waist with his fingers.

"Don't move." He spoke, when he saw her tense up. When was the last time Blade had a women in his home that made him feel this way? For the hundreds of years he's been through, never once had a women made him desire and want her this much like Lily did. It was a curse, this mate bond they shared, for it ridded him of all his senses. The back of her shirt was low cut, exposing her slightly tan skin as he trailed his fingers over her bare back. He watched as she slowly closed her lids and exhaled a soft sigh.

"You're hungry." Blade simply stated.

Lily blinked, turning around to face him with flushed pink cheeks. For what, she almost wanted to ask. She blushed, quickly fleeing the thought from her mind.

"I could hear your stomach growling from my room."

Lily looked down in embarrassment. "Sorr-"
