~Dipper~

After we got home, Mabel decided to take a nap. I couldn't blame her. Swimming all that way takes a lot out of a a person. Me, I couldn't sleep at night usually. I was used to feeling tired all the time.

"Dipper!" Stan yelled. I set the third journal down and went downstairs to see what he wanted.

When I got there, Stan handed me a broom. "I need someone to sweep the gift shop and I don't want to wake your sister to do it."

I nodded. "Yes sir," I said, taking the broom. I hated chores, but they usually got my mind off the demon in my head.

The gift shop was pretty much empty. Just a few tourists here and there. They didn't even glance my way. Just an employee doing his job. The only weird thing was the voice in my head. I tried to ignore the stupid demon. I remembered that had told Mabel about him. I hoped he wouldn't give me another migraine for spilling our secret.

No, the voice said. I'll do much worse.

I clenched my teeth and focused on sweeping. Back and fourth. Back and fourth.

Don't ignore me kid!

Back and fourth. Back and fourth.

Someone kicked my from behind, catching me off guard, and causing me to topple over.

There was a familiar snickering from behind me. I quickly twisted around to see my least favorite person in the entire world. "G-Gideon?"

~Mabel~

Grunkle Stan had woken me up when he called Dipper, but I staying in bed for a few more minutes, not really wanting to do work.

I eventually got up and checked the time. 6:15. Good thing! I was starving. I went downstairs and was about to go to the kitchen when I head the sound of someone crashing to the floor. Curious, I went out to the gidt shop to see what caused the comotion.

My brother was on the ground, the broom next to him. There was also some kid standing in front of him. I wondered who it was. He didn't seem familiar, but it looked like Dipper knew him from somewhere. He looked about eleven and was so short the evil look on his face was almost funny.

I marched up behind him and spun him around. "What do you think you're doing to my brother?" I asked.

The boy's face changed. I'd seen that look enough times to know that he liked me. I glared at him. I hated getting hit on by guys shorter than me.

Dipper stood up and glared daggeres into the kid. "Dipper, who is this?" I asked.

"This is Gideon," Dipper said. I could hear the hatred on his voice. "This was that kid I was talking about when you showed me around town."

"Really?" I asked. "He doesn't seem like that much of a threat."

"He's not,", Dipper said. "It's his friends who leaave the scars."

I nodded. I had to admit. Dipper did look like he could be easily taken down and this Gideon kid looked like the type that didn't like to get his hands dirty.

"Excuse me," Gideon said, trying to sound all sweet. "But did you say this kid here is your brother?"

I nodded. "I'm Mabel, his twin."

"Twin?" Gideon asked. "I wasn't aware Dipper had any siblings. Especially a sibling as beautiful as you."

I blinked. Now he was flirting with me. "Uh...You know, that's sweet and all, but I don't date guys younger than me."

He took my hands in his and I snatched them back. This creep was getting on my nerves.

"Gideon, what are you doing here?" Dipper asked.

"Why, Dipper, I'm glad you asked. You know that book I found."

"The one I found," Dipper said in an annoyed tone. "Yeah. What about it?"

"Well, it led me here, of all places. I wanna know about everything in this town. The annomolies, the monsters, everything!"

"Sorry to burst your bubble," Dipper said. "But that's what we're doing. And it's just in the family."

"Just in the family, eh?" He grabbed my hand again. "What if me and your sister started dating? We'd practically be brothers!"

"Eww!" I said, pulling away. "I don't want to date you!"

Gideon looked hurt and I couldn't help feeling a little bad for him.

"Go home, Gideon," Dipper growled.

"This isn't over!" Gideon said. "Your sister will love me and I will solve the mysteries of this town! Even if I have to use that demon in your head to do it!"

It was a good thing that almost no one was in the gift shop. There was only an old lady who looked like she hadn't heard a thing.

"Come on, brother," I said. "Let's get something to eat."

Dipper swollowed and nodded. "D-Do you really think he can control the demon in my head?"

I shrugged. "Can't say for sure, but I think he's fibbing. Don't think too hard about it, alright?"

Dipper nodded, but I could tell he wouldn't forget about it for a while.
