A/N - I am so sorry for those who waited so long for this! I just realized that I haven't updated this since December 23rd! I always get so upset and I feel bad when I see that you all are waiting for me to update ;-;

Mondays for the Aomine family always began at least two hours late. At that point the chief didn't have much of a say over Aomine's sleep schedule. Boy had a daughter to take care of. That must require a lot of hard work, patience, and devotion.

The nudging on Aomine's arm finally began to go through him. He moved sluggishly with a loud groan. A familiar high pitched voice called to him. The muffles were finally beginning to sound like real words to his ears.

"Dad!" Kairi yanked quickly on her dad's shirt. "Dad! Wake up! Dad!"

"Hn?" A sleepy groan emitted from the man as he got up. "What time is it?"

Since Kairi didn't know how to tell time yet, she pointed at the clock beside his bed, the red numbers blinking, signaling his constant unconscious pressing of the snooze button.

'12:24 PM'

Aomine dug his head into his pillow and groaned into it. He often wondered why he had files upon files on his desk every Monday that always caused him to go into overtime. Kairi never liked it when her dad would work late because that meant she had to be left alone again. Aomine tried, really. He tried to wake up at the time he was supposed to so he can go home on time to his daughter instead of sit on a chair that was almost too small on him while he was crouched over a desk. But hey, at least he didn't wake up at two in the afternoon like he had done countless times.

It's the effort that counts.

After feeding his daughter some lunch, he headed to the daycare to drop her off. On the way there, Kairi dug into her deep pocket and pulled out a slightly crumpled piece of paper, that originally belonged to Hayato's. She smiled to herself when she looked at it, having a small physical piece of proof that she had her very first friend. Even though Kairi was rough around the edges, just like Aomine, she was just a kind girl at heart, just like her mother.

Aomine walked his daughter to her class and apologized to her teacher. He bent down and placed a kiss on Kairi's cheek and straightened back up to leave when she tugged on his pants to grab his attention.

"Dad I want you to meet my friend!"

"Your friend?"

"Yeah! Hayato! I think you'll like him!" she grasped on his pant leg and started to drag him. Since he didn't want to disappoint her, he complied to her demands. But before she could lead him to Hayato, he got a call from his work phone.

"It's Aomine," he answered.

"Hey we have a 10-71 followed by a 10-80! Come down to the town square, can't miss it! Hurry, we need all the units here right now!" his coworker commanded him, the various sounds in the background proving it to be very serious. A shooting followed by an explosion was never good. Kairi frowned when Aomine crouched in front of her with a serious expression.

"I have to go right now. It's serious. I'll be back tonight okay?" he hurridly explained to her as she nodded.

Kairi watched sadly as her father strided down the hall and out of her sight.

When Hayato finally saw Kairi, he immediately returned her drawing and she did the same. The two traded, and of course, they bonded once again over different topics.
