❤︎Chapter 13: Confronted!

Tomomi glared down at his cellphone as Nanami texted him back for the 3rd time that day. She acted as if nothing happened between her and Momoka, and ift was starting to piss him off.

N: Good morning, Maruyama-San! The weather today is great, huh? I was wondering if you wanted to come by after school and work on our history project?

Tomomi took a deep breath as he read the message over. His heart started to pound as he nearly lost control of his breathing. His body was aflame with anger. In the calmest, most professional wording possible, he began to type out his reply.

T: Furukawa. I have something to discuss with you. Please meet me after school near the gym hall.

Nanami nearly texted back as soon as Tomomi sent the message. He could already see her expression of shock as she responded to his cold message.

N: Ah...alright, I'll meet you.

T: Great.

He was glad that she didn't contact him for the rest of the school day.

"What did you bring for lunch?"

"Pass it over, Reina!"

"You're making a mess!"

"Give me FOOD!"

I grinned as my new lively bunch of friends frantically started passing and snatching food from each other. Tomomi and I were sitting close, but we hadn't spoken since earlier this morning. There was a strange air between us.

It's me. I thought. I was acting strange because I was thinking about confronting Daisuke. Because of that, it made it awkward!

I have to say something.

Taking a deep breath, I sum up the courage and turn to Tomomi. My hand is reaching for his.

"...Um, To--"

"Tadashi! No!"

I hear Reina shout something toward Tadashi before a mini squid snacks me in my face. I'm so shocked I just sit there with wide eyes. The lunch circle is quiet.

"...pfft..." I hear the sound of uncontrollable laughter starting up right next to me. When I turn, my beautiful Tomomi is laughing so hard, he has to take off his glasses to wipe the tears away. I start chuckling then, too, and all at once, all of us are laughing together.

"Did you see her face?!"

"The squid!"

"My mother put so much work into cooking that for me!"

"Geez, why are boys so rowdy..."

"Momoka."

I turn to look at Tomomi. He's smiling gently at me, making me feel relieved.

"Yes?" I blush at the closeness.

"I have something to take care of after school. Will you wait for me a little bit? I'll still walk you home."

My shoulders slumped in relief that I wouldn't be keeping him waiting, "Oh! That's alright! Actually, I have --"

"Look out!"

Tomomi swiftly dodged a pair of flying chopsticks, glaring in Tadashi's direction. I glared, too.

"Hey! What the heck is even going on over there!" I shout, and he and Reina simply shrug.
