It's quiet for just another moment until I hear him let out a breath of relief. He releases me, and my heart sinks in disappointment.

Hold me longer, Tomomi! I wanted to say, but I kept my mouth shut. It was only the first date, after all. I should really try to take this all slower....what exactly was I expecting to happen?

When I look back up into Tomomi's face, he's smiling gently as if to tell me everything was okay now.

"I'm sorry. I wasn't ready to go home quite yet. I'm having so much fun with you." He says so sweetly and looks at me so warmly I feel like I'll melt on the spot.

"Oh...I see. That car belonged to your family?"

"Right. My grandmother doesn't exactly approve of me dating. She considers it a distraction. She probably sent those cars out to find me. " Tomomi's turns away from me and leads us out of the alleyway.

There's a twist in the pit of my stomach as I realize what this means for us. "T-Tomomi? Your grandmother doesn't know about us, does she?"

"No. And I prefer we keep it that way."

Tomomi says this in a rather cold voice that demanded the conversation stop there. I stopped walking, pressing my lips together and lowering my head a bit. I didn't like the idea of Tomomi being angry with me. Of all people, I really cared about what he thought of me...

When he notices my footsteps have ceased, Tomomi turns and looks at me apologetically. He turns to face me, shaking his head.

"Ah, I'm sorry for my tone just now. That wasn't directed at you in the slightest. I just don't want my grandmother to know that I have feelings for you."

"I see..." that didn't make me feel all that much better. I looked back up at Tomomi shyly, "I....that makes me a bit more sad, actually."

"Oh, Momoka.... I didn't mean that in a bad way. My grandmother is a very cold hearted woman. I just think it's best she doesn't learn about us. At least not for awhile. Please understand."

Awhile! That's good at least! He plans on us staying together for a long time! And one day I'll meet his grandmother. Maybe she'll change her mind when she sees how happy we are together!

With this thought in mind, I smiled brightly and nodded back in reply. Tomomi finally smiled back and offered me his hand.

"Shall we go? How about one more stop on the way back to your house?"

"That sounds good!" I say as I step forward and slip my hand into his. We walk hand in hand down the alleyway until we join the busy Tokyo streets once again.
