When the final bell rang for the end of the school day, Tomomi and I immediately looked at each other and smiled widely. I felt a flutter in my chest as my heart started to pound in excitement for what was to come.

Today had gone really smoothly -- everyone was abuzz with anticipation for what the weekend had in store. The teachers had been as normal as always since it was a regular school day, but knowing it was the weekend left a very calm, relaxed atmosphere the entire day.

And my Tomomi! We'd been exchanging quick, knowing glances all through the school day. I found myself daydreaming about what our date would be like. Would it be awkward? Would we enjoy it?

I had almost gasped out loud as I came to realization about something. Would Tomomi ask me out for a second date? Would I ask for a third? Would I ask for the fourth? Who asked who out in a relationship, anyway?! At what point would I be his girlfriend?

I wanted to burst just thinking about how overwhelming this all was -- I didn't know a thing about being in a romantic relationship with someone. There was so much to look forward to!

"Ready to go, Princess?"

I snap out of my thoughts and look toward the front of the room, where Tomomi stood with his bag in one hand and his other hand slid into his pocket. His smile was gentle, and his beautiful eyes were filled with overflowing warmth. His dark hair was falling into his hazel eyes the way that I loved so much.

He's perfect...

Gathering my stuff in my hands, I quickly trot over to him, the smile never leaving my face.

"Ready!"

It was time for our first date!

"I see. So your favorite flavor is banana."

I grin as the wonderful sweet flavor dances across my tongue. My whole body seems to react to the sweetness and I can't help but do a little dance as Tomomi and I sit on a bench at a park. I slide my spoon back into my frozen yogurt and carefully lift a few gummy bears eagerly to my mouth.

"Yes! It's my ultimate favorite!"

"Ultimate, huh? You're really cute, Momoka."

"Ah! Tomomi, you're embarrassing me..." I turn red and curse myself for my nerdy word use. I didn't want to say anything stupid like I usually did and make him jump up and ditch me.

Just shut up, Momoka, the date's going well so far.

The two of us had made great conversation on our walk to the frozen yogurt shop. It was a good 10 minute distance on foot from the middle school.

I learned that Tomomi really loved basketball and had wanted to join a team since he was 5. It took him a few years to get a high enough grade where his grandmother allowed him to join. I told him I really wanted to see him in his little uniform, and he told me he might have to fish around for a picture at home.

I had told Tomomi about how many siblings I had, and how my father worked away from home a lot and that I rarely got to see him except for a select few holidays. I told him my mother was always gone away at work as well, but when she came home she always brought treats and new clothes she had designed.

Tomomi said my family sounded very lively and I must have been very loved. I saw the look in his eyes and knew immediately that he was neglected.

As much as I wanted to ask him, I knew it was our first date and it should be filled with happy memories.

"What are you daydreaming about now?"

"Hey!" I close my eyes when my cheek is covered by a napkin. When Tomomi is done cleaning my face, he starts to chuckle lightheartedly.

"You had sprinkles all over your face! You must be a very messy eater!"

I'm not a pig, I promise! I just really love banana!

"I'm not! Umm!"

"You're so cute, Momoka! I can't take it!"

"Tomomi!"

After finishing our frozen yogurt, Tomomi asked me what I'd like to do next. I threw my cup into the trash can and turned to look at him, ready to open my mouth and tell him about the store nearby when I heard a car approaching at our side.

Tomomi's eyes grew wide, his body grew stiff, and his hands flew out at me. Before I knew it, we were running through the streets of Tokyo.
