Cameron stood in front of his bed, face boring intense concentration as his eyes examined what was before him. I was kneeling beside Cam, trying to keep a straight face as I observed with him. Colby volunteered to take care of the trash and wash the few dishes we had used for dinner, which was actually quite surprising. I never deemed for Colby as a dishwashing kind of guy, but hey, I was not complaining. So now, I was with Cameron on during what seemed to be one of the most important decisions he ever had to make.

Cameron’s eyes darted back and forth for a few more seconds, until finally nodding his head. Crossing his arms over his chest, he turned to me with a grin and said triumphantly, “Batman!”

I couldn’t help but let out a little chuckle, and picked up the Batman pajamas that lay across his bed side by side the Superman pajamas. “Arighty, Batman it is,” I said, and handed him the clothes, after which plopping down Cameron’s bed.

"I thought you like Superman better though?" I asked Cam as I ran a hand along his dinosaur-printed bed spread. I saw him shrug.

"Colby said Batman's better, since he's the only superhero that is a true human," Cam said with conviction. Before I could ask him to explain more, (since I just really wanted to hear how he had understood what his cousin said), Cam cleared his throat. His little hands held the fabric tightly and he was looking at me expectantly. Tilting my head to one side, I raised my eyebrows in question. Cam let out a very grown-up frustrated sigh, making me blink with slight astonishment.

“I can’t change with you in here, Kay Kay,” Cam said in a matter-of-fact tone. He crossed his arms over his chest again, and for that moment he looked so mature that I felt bewildered and amused at the same time. I must’ve stared for a while because Cam cleared his throat again and shot me what seemed to be his version of a stern look, eyebrows scrunched and his lips downward in a frown. He looked absolutely adorable though, and it took all of my willpower not to laugh. It would definitely not get me in Cam’s good graces. I just lifted my hands up in surrender and almost ran out of the room, shutting the door behind me. Letting out a calming breath to keep my laughter in (at least until I got away from Cam’s door), I then turned left to make my way downstairs to check on Colby. There was this feeling inside me that the dishwasher might’ve eaten Colby alive by now or something.

The moment I turned though, there he was, leaning against the wall and shaking in silent laughter. Obviously he heard what Cameron and I were talking about. Or at least parts of it. My hand flew over my throat, and my heart was pounding in my chest. His presence definitely startled me. I was really expecting that he’d be battling with the dishwasher.

What was up with Colby sneaking up on people being all quiet? He might've been a ninja in his past life. Or a spy.

As he stood there laughing silently though, I remembered Cam’s actions and I felt my laughter rising up my throat. Quickly I put one hand over my mouth, and my other hand shot out and grabbed Colby’s arm. His eyebrows raised but he was still shaking, which made me want to laugh even more for some odd reason. My hand on his arm started pulling him all the way down the hallway, as far as we could get away from Cam’s room. When we reached the hallway’s end, we both collapsed into laughter. And yep, we laughed with sounds this time.

Colby let out a particularly loud hoot, and I sank my fingernails into his arm to remind him to keep it down a bit while struggling to do so myself. After all, we were still upstairs and just down the hall, and Cameron could very well hear the blasting sound coming out of his older cousin’s chest (and mine, if I wouldn’t be able to hold it in). He managed to calm down and wiggled his eyebrows at my hand on his arm. Rolling my eyes, I sank my nails further in response to his teasing actions yet again. With that he let out a yelp, and yanked his arm out of my grasp.
