Author’s note:

Hey guys! Thanks for sticking with me this far! I hope I don’t lose your support and have more of your friends read my stories too!

1: I want to get you guys into really feeling this book as if you're watching a movie. So for that, I'm gonna put up a link for a song and cue when I want you to play it (usually right at the start for now). You don't HAVE to, but it'll be cool. Well, according to me, hence, I want to know what you guys thought. Yeah, it's songs I like, so don't expect it to tantalise your music-buds, but they are the most appropriate songs for the scene. Anyway, I hope you get the picture, if you don't, please do ask me!

[Cue 1: Play the link on the right]

Kae turned around instantly, aiming the gun directly in front of him . Stood there was a monster, towering above him. The creature was completely black, resembling a shadow, with remains of red fur scattered over its body. Strangest of all was the fact that its head and limbs were indistinguishable from its main body. The creature then stretched out all six of its limbs, which were twisted beyond normal, and poised itself in a peculiar pouncing stance. Its head was the oddest of all; it was completely round, with no jaw, and had two peaks on the top, which seemed to have been ears before.

Apart from being bent at an abnormal ninety degrees, the monsters eyes, bulbous and large, were wild and were looking in different directions. Jutting out from its skin were long black tentacles slithering in the air. As if possessed and in a state of berserk, the hellacious beast let out a loud cry which made Kae clench his teeth.

“FIRE AT WILL!”

Kae screamed into his earpiece as he jumped to the right to dodge a fast approaching tentacle. Kae got to his feet instantly and while running to take cover behind the closet tree, he pushed a button on his gun. After preparing himself, Kae aimed the gun to where the beast was from behind his cover. To his horror, the creature had vanished.

The air was filled with sounds of battle between the creature and the rest of Kae's team. Kae scanned the nearby area for any signs of the creature. Just as soon as he was about to break cover, Zephyr’s body crashed into the face of the tree with a tentacle embedded deep in her skull. Blood trickled down from underneath her mask and tarnished her bright silver hair. Zephyr helplessly tried to raise her hand to her head. Her body twitched violently for an instant before her hand fell down limply to her side.

Kae's eyes widened in shock but regained their composure just as quick, as if he was blocking out all of his emotions. Holding on to the gun in his left hand, he unsheathed his blade with his right and cut the tentacle. Just as it was slithering away, Kae dug the blade deep into the tentacle pinning it to the ground firmly.

The creature, still in berserk, cried out from the pain and tried pulling at its tentacle in vain. Having drawn attention to himself, Kae then aimed his gun at the creature and squeezed the trigger. A seemingly small, condensed ball of air formed near the creature’s face and began to give off a powerful energy distorting the atmosphere around it.

Sensing danger, the beast pulled hard at its pinned tentacle and managed to rip it free. Kae finally let go of the trigger and the ball of energy exploded with a massive force just as the creature was about to run. Kae was thrown back by the recoil.

“Star of the Winter Heavens! We command thee!” came the collective voice of Cross and Skylar. Both of them were in midair with their right arms outstretched before them. They summoned an enormous ball of fire with blue electricity running through it in the instant the creature was recovering from the loss of its two right limbs.

Before the duo could complete their Magick, the creature flailed in desperation. Its outstretched claw like hand found Cross, crushing him in its vice like grip. Simultaneously the creature managed to catch and sink its massive and severely out of proportion teeth into Skylar's flanks. The Magick becoming unstable exploded in the creature’s face. Blood rained all over the place and the bodies of Cross and Skylar fell to the floor like ragdolls, mutilated by their own Magick and the creature's attack.

Steadying himself, Kae saw the creature was bleeding viciously but seemed unaffected by the large gaping wound in its torso. Capitalising on the situation, Kae squeezed his trigger again and aimed for the creature’s head.

“Go to hell!” with his brave war cry, Kae leapt towards the creature’s face, summoning up every last ounce of strength he had.

The creature sensing danger snapped its massive jaw at Kae. To his cursed luck, the creature managed to bite into Kae’s abdomen. Kae let out a sharp cry of agony. Before Kae could recover from the situation, the creature seeming to want to swallow Kae whole, tossed him into the air and opened its mouth wide in apprehension.

Kae tried to find his bearings in mid-air and aimed his gun directly in the creature’s open mouth. He threw his entire weight behind his gun and lifted his finger off the trigger.

Another energy ball launched itself in the creature’s open mouth and exploded. The force threw Kae back and slammed him against a tree. The creature exploded from within and chunks of its meat flew into the air with its dark blood splattering everywhere.

Kae slid down to the floor gasping for air. He held the wound in his abdomen trying to subdue some of the pain, his eyes still affixed to where the monster had been. His expression was that of pure shock and disbelieve. Weakly, Kae tried to steady his gun and aimed it in front of him, still not convinced he had entirely won.
