The sound of laughter and cackling filled my ears. I woke up out of bed and looked at my phone to see several text messages from Brianna, and James. The time was seven fourty two. What? I over slept?
My body fell to the ground as I tried to get out of bed. I laughed at myself and then ran to my closet. Where are my clothes?
I looked over to see a trail of my clothes leading into Kody and Kyles room. "Boys! Give me my-" my words were gone. I had no words to what I was looking at.
"I'm Kayla, and I like to write on my laptop, and be beautiful." Kody smirked as he spun in my new dress that I got from Rue 21.
Kyle was squeezed into my favorite red hoodie. "I'm sporty Kayla, and I'm so fit."
"Give me back my clothes you morons!" I said as I angrily started to snatch all of my things off the floor.
Kyle and Kody held out there hands for me to stop, "You said that you loved us last night. Therefore we are not morons, because we are you."
"Ughhhh!" I rolled my eyes and stormed downstairs, "Daddy!"
"Shit!" I head Kody and Kyle cuss.
My dad walked into the living room, "What?"
"Kyle and Kody stole my clothes and are stretching them out." I said.
"Kayla, they're just being boys."
My heart dropped, "What?! I'm late for school because of them! And I have nothing to wear!"
"Just wear some of your old clothes." He shrugged, "I'm trying to get ready for work."
I just wanted to cry, he was being a terrible parent. I stormed upstairs and dug through the good will box that we were gonna donate when my mom was still alive. All I found was a stupid forest green tank top, pink cardigan, and shorts that were way too small. My butt was hanging out. I was certain that my mirror was gonna crack as I looked in it.
Whatever, time for school. I started to run as fast as my legs could carry me. I read on the sign 'Picture Day.' What? Oh Lord, help me. (My cleavage was hanging out of the forest green tank top, and my ass was hanging out my shorts.) Maybe I could skip school today? Then I would never been in the yearbook.
I walked inside and had creepy perves staring at me head to toe. Oh God, no this isn't happening. "Kayla?" I turned around to see Marco. The most hottest, popular guy in high school.
"Hey Marco." I smiled and put my hair in a ponytail. I've always wanted him to just notice me. I guess it took old, out of styled clothes for him to actually take notice of me.
He grinned, "I almost didn't recognize you."
"Yeah, this isn't me." I laughed as I motioned to myself.
"Well you look good." He blushed and ran his fingers through his shaggy brown hair, and walked away. I admired him as he walked away. No one could be as perfect as him. I've known him since second grade, and I've always had a crush on him.
I felt hands wrap around my hips and spin me around, "Who was that?"
"James? Why are you worried about that? Are you jealous?" I said as I pulled his hands off of me.
He rolled his eyes, "Me? Jealous? Of that?" He laughed sarcastically and pecked my forehead, "Never. And this is a job anyway, so it doesn't matter."
Great. He had to remind me that it was a job. Of course he did, he doesn't like you. We went on with the day, and everyone kept asking me if James and I broke up. They said something about seeing me pulling his hands off of me and yelling at him. I wasn't yelling at him, was I?
The principal spoke through the intercom, "Everyone please line up in the auditorium, we will be taking pictures soon."
Oh no. I should just ditch until it's over. But then something happened that made me change my mind. "Kaykay!" I heard Marco calling my name, as he was running behind me. "Where you going? Aren't you gonna go get your picture taken?"
"Nah, there's no point to get my picture taken anyway. I look like a slut." I whined.
He held both of my hands, "I think you look fine, but if you want... you can be in my pictures?"
"I don't think that's a good idea." I said as I pulled away. "Your popularity will go down, and everyone will make fun of you."
"That's not true." He said as he smiled and held my hands again. "And, I don't care if my popularity goes down. It doesn't matter to me."
Was he being serious? Was Marco flirting? Giving me a sign? "Okay?" I said as I walked with him over to the auditorium. It was filled with the whole high school. The principal said that they got one of the photographers from Rolling Stone magazine. So it was a big deal I guess.
The photographer would take a picture of whoever was next in line. I watched as some of the girls got their slut on and started groping him. He didn't mind obviously. I was next. I took a deep breath and smiled for the camera. The weirdos eyes kept grazing over my body; it made me uncomfortable, and squirm. I wasn't gonna let him ruin the photo. So I kept smiling. He finally took it.
I stepped aside so Marco could get his picture taken. As I looked over to my right, I saw James and Brianna talking about something, I didn't care about it until she pointed at me. Since I was confused I walked over to her and James, "What's up?" I asked.
James kind of rolled his eyes. Brianna looked at me, "One of the girls just told James something about you, and we were looking for you so you could tell him if the girls right or wrong."
"Okay? What happened James?" I asked as I looked over at an annoyed James.
He sighed, "Ok, so Sandra came up to me not to long ago and said that you gave Marco a blow job and y'all are dating. Not, that I care, I'm just really grossed out."
He cared. "Okay, one... Ew! I would never give him a blow job, and two... I'm not dating him. He's dating Chloe Poison." I rolled my eyes at the thought of how gross she was.
"Actually, they broke up around noonish." Brianna added.
My heart stopped beating as my stomach dropped. Marco talked to me before noon, which meant it was my fault that they broke up. Chloe would be coming after me. "I gotta go tell Marco something," I said as James started to walk away from me "I'll be back, don't let James be like that." I said to Brianna.
James had just finished getting his photo taken, and he smirked as he walked up to me. "Why did you break up with Chloe?" I asked as I had the urge to slap him silly.
"Because I like you." He grabbed onto my waist and pulled my body closer to his.
The feeling was nice, being so close to him, but I was serious. "Let me go." I said as I pulled away from him. "You shouldn't have broken up with Chloe. I have a boyfriend." I looked at the ground.
He laughed and rolled his eyes, "Who? That looser?" He pointed at James who tripped in thin air and landed on his butt. Brianna laughed at him while she helped him up.
"He's not a looser, he's my boyfriend. He's more of a man than you'll ever be." I said as stomped away from him. Now that I knew he was a player I was not interested, James had a kind heart, unlike Marco. I knew that James didn't like me in that way, but I still have the right to have a crush.
