Wake Up Call

I awoke to the sound of my phone ringing. I answered it and quickly jumped to my feet at what I was hearing. The doctor was on the phone, and he just told me that Yugi woke up. He said that I was free to come and talk to him, so I threw on some clothes and hurled some jeans at Atem's sleeping form.

"Ahhhh! I'm up!" He yelled.

"Yugi woke up, put some clothes on because we're going to see him!" I yelled.

"Heba? Where has Yugi been?" I heard someone ask from the doorway.

I just slowly turned my head to the side and stared at the man who just asked that question. It hadn't occurred to him to ask that question before now, or to care that Yugi wasn't home. I had half a mind to rip his head off.

"You.... I can't even start with you today. He has been in the hospital in a coma, and he finally woke up. I swear, if you go near him, I WILL castrate you" I said walking closer and closer to Yami.

"Heba. Let's go" Atem said grabbing my arm and pulling me away.

I silently thanked him for doing that. I really didn't want to be the cause of another horrific teenage injury when I had just caused one.

We climbed into Atem's car and sped off toward the hospital. My mind was racing at the thought of Yugi finally being awake. All of his injuries had healed by now, so it would just be physical therapy and teaching his muscles and limbs how to function again.

We parked outside the hospital and my apprehension had faded as I sprinted inside. The nurse recognized me and just nodded in approval. I smiled and ran to my brother's room. I just hope he's still awake so I can talk to him.

I walked in and saw the doctor with Yugi, discussing something. They turned toward me and the doctor excused himself. I walked over to him and I looked to see that Atem wasn't there behind me. He probably went to go speak with the doctors.

"Yugi, how are you feeling?" I asked walking closer to him.

"Okay I guess, but can I ask you something?"

"Yes. Anything" I replied quickly.

"Who are you?"

I paled as the question left his mouth. This has to be some sick joke right? He has to remember me, I'm his brother, the one who just came back into his life, the one......... who caused this.

"I'm your brother. Heba"

"Heba...... I don't remember you" he said with a puzzled face.

Tears came to my eyes. I hand landed on my shoulder and I snapped my head up to see Atem. He has pity in his eyes and I buried my head in his chest.

"Are you okay Heba? I'm sorry I can't remember you but don't cry. I'm sure I'll get my memory back soon"

"Heba! Let me in! I want to see him" I heard from outside the door.

Yami. That guy had some nerve coming after I told him not to. I growled as the banging on the door continued. I looked over at Yugi who looked a little frightened.

"Heba, let him in. I want to meet everyone from my life. Maybe he could spark something" Yugi pleaded.

"Fine. But if he tries anything, just yell. I will take his manhood faster than he can blink" I said unlocking the door.

"Understood" Yugi said nodding his head.

I opened the door and Yami slowly strided in. I could tell he was uncomfortable, and he should be. I don't know what Yugi sees in him, but if he wants to be near Yami, I will hold my tongue.

"Yugi, I'm sorry for being an ass these past few months. It wasn't my intention for things to end up like this. It took me until your attempted suicide to realize that I love you. I can't live without you Yugi, I have spent everyday since your close call worrying about you. I just got up the courage to swallow my pride and ask where you were and was absolutely horrified by the answer. I was debating on whether or not you wanted to see me, but I decided to come and face you regardless. I love you Yugi Moto. I want to spend every moment with you from here on out. I want to hold you when you're scared and sad, and be there for you when you need me" Yami said as tears started to spill from his eyes.

"Oh Yami..... That's so sw...... Wait, I attempted suicide!!?" Yugi asked in panic.

"Yes. And I was so scared that I lost you because you didn't wake up for a while" I answered honestly.

"Why in the world would I do that?!"

Yami and I looked at each other and then I turned toward Atem and he just shook his head. I can't come between love I guess, even if Yami doesn't deserve the love of my brother.

"You did it because you where scared. You loved me, but I was a jerk. I ignored you and made you feel unwanted. But I'm not going to do that anymore, I have changed. Yugi, you will be the center of my life"

I looked surprised at who just spoke. Yami was the one to admit the truth. I was surprised to admit that I was actually proud of him for telling the truth.

"Yami, why would you do that. How do you just forget someone? I have this overwhelming feeling that I should be mad at you. Ugh, can I have some time alone?" Yugi said holding his head.

"Yes. Come on, let's leave Yugi alone" Atem said rushing us out of the room.

"Yami, thank you for telling Yugi the truth. I couldn't bring myself to tell him that he tried to end his life. Thank you" I managed.

"Uhhh. You're welcome??" he said confused.
