Kaia~Taurus
"Kaia?"
Not again.
"Chase?" I said, mocking his tone.
Chase creaked open my door,"It's 1:38 in the afternoon, you've been asleep for 14 hours." He leaned against the door frame. He wore his usual long sleeve tunic and jeans, his hand swept through his black hair.
"14 hours huh? Sorry, bout that." I tried to sound dejected but in reality I was mentally high fiving myself. I stretched and smiled at him in no hurry to get out of bed.
Chase sighed, "You know you're missing out on so many things," he said rubbing the side of his face.
"Yeah, sure. Like anything would be going on in this place," I slide off my bed and onto to soft blue carpet of my room. There's only three of us here at the Triplicity and since Chloe kept deciding she was the unofficial leader of the place, I have nothing better to do except for training and busting up his chops. It's kinda my thing.
It's not like I don't like him. Sure, he's good looking (enough), intelligent, (unbelievably), loyal and based off the few times I've been off of the Triplicity with him, extremely friendly and basically friends with everyone. Actually to be honest, I don't even know what to think about him.
"Chloe left an hour ago."
"Of course she left," I grumbled, opening my closet. After seeing Chase's annoyance I gave him a pleasant, "Proceed."
"I told her I felt my mark burn and she took it to her own hands to find out what was going on. As per usual."
"I thought the mark only burned if we are in close proximity with any threats or monsters," I threw on my denim jacket, which was decorated with geometric designs inspired by my ancestors of the Nez Perce.
"It does. But for some reason she wanted to go to Westbrook, Maine."
"Westbrook?" I stifled a laugh. "Sounds like some sort of fictional city in a book."
"No, it's real. I googled it."
"Well," I grabbed my sketchbook and pen,"aren't you the great Visionary," I bowed mocking his sign's archetype. "So long Patel!"
~~~
I tapped my pen rapidly against my sketchbook staring out into space. Or rather, the Triplicity woods.
Nature always was extremely calming to me. I guess being the human representation of the sign Taurus really affected that. Seriously though, literally every horoscope post I've seen describes Taurus as a stubborn nature and food lover, and that's not completely true!
Okay, it kinda is.
I stared down at my half-drawn landscape and compared it with the real life version. I scratched at the foliage of one of the drawn trees before the wind started to pick up, blowing my long brown hair across my face.
The Triplicity has weather controls. So if you want to have it snow in the middle of July or have warm temperatures in January, it can do that. But wind only happens on two occasions. 1) a portal being opened 2) Chase forgetting how to set the weather for hailstorm (don't ask, it's happened before).
In front of me, the trees swayed back and forth and the sound of rustling leaves filled my ears. I clutched my sketchbook close to my chest as a blinding light flashed through the trees.
The light faded, the landscape returned to its tranquil, normal self. At least until I heard a male voice yell,"That. Was. Awesome!"
Well that definitely wasn't Chloe.
