I took a deep breath as I looked at myself in the giant dressing room mirror. Everything looked perfect; my hair was styled with my curls falling ever-so-slightly into my face, my outfit was cute but comfortable, my makeup was unnoticeable but amazingly flawless. All of my lyrics were carefully memorized, the chords placed perfectly into my fingertips.

Still, with everything going right for me, I couldn't help but be nervous. I could hear the crowd chanting my name, and as seconds ticked by, I felt the butterflies in my stomach begin to spin faster.

This wasn't a good idea. Why did I think this was a good idea? I can't do this. I closed my eyes tightly as nausea washed over me, fighting desperately to hold back tears.

Suddenly, a pair of strong, warm arms wrapped their way around my waist, and I felt someone nuzzle their face into my neck.

"You're gonna do great," Connor breathed soothingly onto the back of my neck; shivers went down my spine as his warm breath hit my sensitive skin, but it lifted my spirits automatically.

"Yeah?" I breathed back, turning to face my fiancé.

"Yeah." He smiled slightly and leaned in to kiss me softly. I felt all of my fears melt through the floor as we kissed gently, and I couldn't help but giggle slightly into the kiss.

"What?" Connor asked, amused, our foreheads resting lightly against each others.

"We're so cliché," I giggled.

"But you love it," Connor countered, his smile growing.

"I love you," I corrected him, nuzzling my head into his neck and breathing him in with a smile on my face.

"Who's the cliché one now?" Connor chuckled. "I love you, too. Now go out there and blow everyone away with your awesome music!"

"Before you walked in, I was so worried. I didn't think I could do it."

"Do you mean five minutes ago or like when I walked into your life all those years ago on that sidewalk?" Connor kissed the back of my neck gently, comfortingly.

"Both. The sidewalk. Now." I answered, snuggling further into him.

"Hey. Look at me." He pulled me away until I was looking into his swirling green eyes. "You can do this."

"I know," I answered honestly, letting myself get lost in his gaze for a second.

"Just listen," he said, a grin playing on the corner of his lips. Silence enveloped the room, and once again I could hear the faint chanting of a loud, excited crowd. I let a smile take over my face. I can do this.

"You're bigger than I would've ever dreamed," Connor said, smiling at me. "We're living like those stories we made all that time ago." I smiled back, a blinding smile full of pure happiness and joy.

"And all because of you." With that, I kissed him lightly on the forehead, grabbed my guitar, and strode onstage, a large smile on my face and one hand raised to greet the screaming crowd.
