"heydoyouwannameetmyfriends?" Calum's inquiry came out in a rapid mumble, causing Flossy to catch two words as they studied together.
"say that again?"
"do you - um - wanna meet my friends, maybe? you totally don't have to! they're a pain in my ass and I would totally understand if you didn't want to."
"Calum," she whispered, almost sounding appalled by the request in his ears. he looked up at her almost like a scared puppy as she advanced towards him. she rested her soft hand on his cheek and looked down at him with a reassuring smile as she said, "stop over thinking it. of course I want to meet your friends!"
"really?"
"well I wouldn't have said anything if I didn't want to."
he smiled up at her radiantly. it seemed that he was greatly overjoyed at her response. he immediately got up and walked towards the door, only stopping when Flossy got his attention once again.
"what about the work you had to study?"
he shrugged in response. "it's not gonna grow legs and run away. it'll still be there when we get back."
Flossy rolled her eyes in response and followed him down the beige carpeted steps. he made a turn down a hallway she hadn't seen before and opened a door to a room foreign to her. everything was illuminated when she noticed that they were standing in a garage and her dream car was in the center of the room.
she immediately ran to it and admired it from a closer, 3D view. in that moment, her smile could not be stolen away from her by a bandit of bad luck or bad news. she knew Calum was probably looking at her peculiarly but she didn't care.
"why didn't you tell me you had one of these?!" Flossy exclaimed, though she didn't turn around to meet his gaze.
"because then you'd only want me for my materials," he confessed. his tone was playful beyond the horizon of the sadness or fear of many things. "I'd show it to you, then you'd take it in the night." she turned around finally and looked at Calum's teasing smirk. she knew he was kidding but she didn't like the implication to his words. "I'd know it was you though because besides us, the only other people who know about it are my parents."
he was suddenly really close to her, looking down with a smile of admiration as she inspected the '71 Jaguar Convertible. she then looked up at him with a smirk. "it's a shame that there isn't more . . . accessible room to move around." she walked around to the left side of the car and only smirked at him when he asked why they needed room to move around.
"come on, wouldn't want to keep those friends of yours waiting."

Calum has seen Flossy in many lights. he's seen her angry, he's seen her upset, he's seen her happy, he's even seen her drunk or high. but as he walked in through the music store in central London, he saw her in a complete contrast to how he knew she really was. she stood behind him as he walked in and didn't really know where else to go. her eyes were wide and she tried to not draw as much attention to herself, which was completely out of character because it clings to her like a child onto their mother.
