"Ana, where are you?" Vic called out, his voice booming through the halls of my home.
I grinned at his shorter version of my name for me. I thought it was cute when he called me that. I don't know why. "Second living room." I yelled at the best of my ability.
Within seconds, he came walking in. "Ah, this one has a tv in it." He observed before taking a seat on the couch beside me. "What're you watching?" He then asked.
"Some boring movie. . . Noah, or whatever. That new one with Hermoine. God, there is so much wrong with it." I complained a little boredly.
Vic chuckled at that. "Then why the hell are you still watching it?" He wondered.
I shrugged. "Because I'm too invested in it now. I need to know how it ends." That's just the way I was. No matter how bad the movie was or how much it bothered me. . . I had to watch it until the bitter end.
"Alright, well, if we are watching this, I'm gonna need some popcorn." Vic then breathed as he hoisted himself off the couch.
"Help yourself."
He grinned. "Oh please, don't get up." He said sarcastically.
I just smiled as I watched him walk off. Today was an okay day. Not a good one, but not a bad one either. I had been given pretty strong pain killers since my last chemo treatment, but I could still feel the pain in my spine coming through. It wasn't terrible, though, it just made walking for ten minutes feel like I'd been walking for ten hours.
A few minutes later, Vic came back with a bowl of fresh popcorn. He threw himself back on the couch, bouncing for a few seconds, until he then sat back and put an arm around my shoulder while he held the bowl of popcorn in his lap.
"I think you might be getting a little too comfortable here." I said, trying to put on a serious act.
"Yeah, well, it's not often that I get to enjoy a couch." He murmured below his breath, before stuffing a bunch of popcorn into his mouth. I wondered what he meant by that, but I didn't ask. Vic never really talked about his own life.
But he seemed content whenever I saw him, so I didn't really see a problem. And as he had his arm around me anyway, I decided to get comfortable too and leaned into him as we watched the rest of this mess of a movie.
"I spotted something on the way down here. . ." Vic began during a dramatic scene of the Hermoine girl giving birth, people crying and men fighting. The second Vic spoke, he had my attention. That just showed how great the movie was.
"I saw a flyer about a special painting class in the gallery we went to that one time."
I glanced up at Vic. "Oh? The one where I bought the blood stain?" I asked a little mockingly.
