Ivy and Harley's New Adventure (under revision)

Chapter 19

Ivy POV

The living room is quiet as Barb, Harley, and I sit worrying about Vin. Selina walks out with Vin in her arms. The only sign of life from her limp body is her tight grip on Selina. I look at her with a small frown on my face and then look over at Harley.

"It's gonna be a long road but she's gonna be okay." Selina says laying her on the couch next to Barb.

Vin crawls into Barb's lap and lays her head there. Barb runs her hands through Vin's hair. We all sit there quietly for a while before a knock is heard at the door. I get up and open the door. Diana, Canary and Arrow stand there holding gifts. I smile and let them in. They see red-eyed Vin laying down on Barb's lap defeated. The normally witty and sarcastic humor is gone and replaced with depression and defeat. Diana walks over and kneels on the ground next to Vin.

"Hey I brought you something. I hope you like it." She pulls a purple stuffed dragon from behind her back.

Vin takes it and hugs Diana. "Thank you Wondy." She smiles lightly.

Diana kisses her forehead and sits on the couch next to Harley. Next Oliver walks over holding a large bag. "Hey kiddo, I know it's gonna be a while before you can use this but I thought I could teach you to shoot." He smiles and pulls out a bow with a few arrows.

She smiles at him. "How long 'til you think I can shoot?"

He laughs. "Let's wait until you can at least walk normally again."

She giggles and looks over at Canary. She walks over and sits on the floor. "Hey sweetie. So I got you a couple of things. First is this." She hands Vin a $100 gift card. "I figured you could buy something while you're stuck in bed. And the other is fighting lessons from me and the rest of the League. Your moms have been making me wait but now you can. So when you are up and moving again, you'll be coming up to the Watch Tower with me everyday. We will also be your school from now on. You will take classes from us in all the normal subjects as well as fighting. If all goes well you may be able to join the League in the future if you want." She smiles.

Vin sits up with a wince and smiles at Canary. "Thank you so much." She hugs her.

Barb holds Vin on her lap and Canary gets up and sits on the couch next to them. We all sit there and Vin cuddles into Barb's chest. Barb kisses the top her head and holds her, hands around her waist. Eventually we start talking about all of the things Vin is going to get to do when she gets better.

Vin POV

I smile and laugh as we all crack jokes about everything. I can feel Barb tensing behind me and I wonder why. I decide to ask her later when we go back into my room . I look back at Barb and then kiss her lightly on the lips.

Mom smiles at me. "So what do you want for dinner? Anything you want."

I think for a moment before answering. "How about Chinese?"

She nods and walks out of the room to order it. I look over to everyone and they all seem to look worried. I hide in Barb's chest and snuggle in closer.

"Baby, we're all just worried about you." She whispers in my ear and kisses my cheek lightly. "I love you."

"I love you too." I whisper back and hug her tighter.

Later that night everyone starts to head home except Barb. Mom cleans up the dishes and Ma kisses the top of my head. "Night Kiddo, love you."

"Night Ma. Love you too."

Mom walks back into the living room and kisses my forehead. "Night baby girl. I love you so much."

"Night Mom. I love you too."

Barb picks me up and carries me to my room. She sets me on the bed and sits next to me. "Babe how come you've been acting strange?" I ask looking at her.

She looks at me like a deer in headlights. "What are you talking about?" She says her voice getting higher and a knot in her throat.

"I can tell when you lie Barb. Please don't lie to me right now." I say my emotions beginning to come to the surface.

"Alright there is something. But you have to find out on your own. I can't tell you. Just please don't cry." She says looking at me with guilt.

I look down at the bed and away from her. "Why can't you tell me? You used to tell me everything."

"Baby I promise you will find out in a couple days. When Canary brings you to the Watch Tower you will find out that day. I promise. Please believe me. I love you so much."

I turn back to her with tears in my eyes. "I love you too. And if you really promise then alright." I smile and kiss her. "I love you so much."

She smiles and wipes my tears away. "I promise that everything will be explained in the next few days. Your Mom also told me that tomorrow you should be able to start moving around well. And you might be able to start your training in a couple weeks."

"Good. It's only been about a day and I'm already bored out of my mind." I smile and chuckle.

"Well, lucky for you I'm staying here tonight." She smirks and kisses me deeply.

"I really like where this is going." I smile and kiss her again.
