"Wow, Maya. You really took my advice."
"Just go sit down at your table, Missy."
"Whatever." She said, walking away. Maya looked at her friends, being hand their food by the lunch lady.
What if they begin to question why I don't have lunch?
She quickly stood up and rushed out of the cafeteria.
"Where are you going?" Maya turned around to see Cory standing with his arms crossed.
"Forgot my lunch in my locker."
"Kay, go get it." Maya nodded and walked out of the cafeteria. She went to her locker first and grabbed her sketchpad, then heading to the school library. She sat down in the corner of the room and placed her sketchpad in her lap, beginning to draw. She spent the whole time in there. When the bell rang, she got up and went to art.
"Why do you keep disappearing?" Asked Lucas.
"I was just working on something, huckleberry."
"Yes!"
"What?"
"I was afraid you weren't gonna call me that."
"Afraid?"
"Ya. I was."
"Farkle, I have to agree with you, he's a freak."
"Come on, Maya let's sit down." Said Riley.
"Kay."
"Today, you are actually going to trade with the photography class to see if you want to take that as an elective next quarter." Said Ms.Kossel.
"What about this class?"
"It's one day, Maya. Besides, I think it would help you even more with your artwork. All of you." The class walked out to the photography room. When they got there, there was a teacher waiting for them at the front of the class.
"Welcome class. No need to sit, I will only speak for a moment before we go into the dark room. My name is Ms.Clarson and I teach photography." She went on for a moment, talking about the class. Maya looked around the room at the photos hanging up. Around the room. They were everywhere, starting about halfway up the wall and in some places going all the way to the ceiling. Riley tapped her on the shoulder. She turned back to the front immediately. Ms.Clarson was still speaking but now looking at her. Not in a way telling her to pay attention but more as if she was looking into her in a somewhat kind sorta way.
"Let's go into the dark room now." She said. They all followed her into the the room, being lit by only two lights glowing an amber color around the room. Ms.Carson began to show them what was what and a general idea of how they were used. When the bell rang, Maya was the last one out other than the teacher.
"Hold on a second." She said before Maya left the room. She turned around.
"What's your name?"
"Maya."
"Come here a moment." Maya walked back over to Ms.Carson, who was at the sink.
"Are you going to take this class?"
"I think so."
"I think you would really like it."
"You just met me."
"I can already tell. Will you take it?"
"Okay."
"Okay, I'll see you the first day of the quarter than. Get to class."
Maya hurried off to her next class and the day went on.
