-Dylan POV-

By the time I got home, it was just after one.

Tyler was already there, leaning against the counter, with Seana perched on one of the stools scrolling through her phone. I grabbed a sandwich and took a bite, still riding the calm, content feeling from breakfast.

"So," Seana said, looking up at me, "how did the date with Jessica go?"

"Really good," I said easily.

Tyler smirked. "That good, huh?"

"Yeah," I admitted. "She's easy to be around. Funny. Carefree."

"But not too carefree, right?" Tyler teased.

I shrugged. "In a good way. She knows who she is."

Seana smiled. "That's rare."

"She's the ginger ale girl, right?" Tyler asked, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.

"Yeah," I said, nodding.

"She's pretty."

I pointed at him with my sandwich. "Eyes on your own woman."

He laughed. "Relax."

Seana set her phone down. "So is there gonna be a third date?"

"Yeah," I said, finishing the last bite. "This time I'm letting her pick."

"Aww," Tyler said, pinching my cheek.

I slapped his hand away. "Don't do that."

Seana laughed. "We have to go. My parents just landed."

"Oh, right," Tyler said. "I forgot they were coming."

They both hugged me goodbye.

"Have fun on that next date," Seana said.

"But not too much fun," Tyler added.

"Whatever," I laughed. "Get out."

After locking the door behind them, I dropped onto the couch, grabbed the remote, and flipped on a baseball game. I leaned back, feet on the table, one arm behind my head.

The game played, but my thoughts drifted anyway.

Jessica's laugh.
The way she looked at me when she thought I wasn't watching.
The way she said not yet—and somehow made me want her more.

I pulled my phone from my pocket and stared at her name on the screen.

Yeah.

This wasn't just a date anymore.
