"Why didn't you tell me?" I demanded as I entered the tree house, completely abandoning my strategy to keep a straight face and not let my emotions get the better of me.
Pan barely even glanced at me, keeping his eyes glued the dancing boys down below from the balcony. The sun was beginning the last leg of its decent below the horizon, creating an orange glow that spread out over the entire island.
The large trees canopied over the camp below, casting shadows on everything, making the now roaring fire even more prominent in the approaching darkness. A cool breeze swept through the air, brushing against my arms, causing chills to sprout, but I held back a shudder and stood my ground.
"Tell you what?" He asked, sending me an arrogant smirk that said he knew exactly what I was talking about.
"Time." I spoke through nearly gritted teeth, narrowing my eyes at him as he stepped away from the wooden railing and turned to face me. He crossed his arms over his chest and shifted his weight to the left side, cocking his head and raising one eyebrow at me. "About how you manipulate it, how you manipulate me."
"My apologies princess, naturally I assumed that you would have figured it out by now seeing as you're so good at manipulation yourself."
"How long have I been here?" I deadpanned, ignoring his comment.
He shrugged easily, pretending to think. "How long do you think you've been here?"
"Thats not what I asked." I shot back.
"But it'll give you the answer you seek. I dont control the time, you do." He leaned close to me as he spoke the last part, his breath hitting my face softly.
"I dont understand." I replied, passing him to take a seat on the edge of the balcony, letting my legs slip through the slots in between the pieces of wood that supported the railing.
"Clearly." He sat beside me gracefully, clearing his throat before turning to me. "Why so concerned all of a sudden?" He stated more than asked.
"Why do you speak as though you already know the answer?"
"I know a lot of things." He accent making it harder to decipher what he said as his voice was lowered to a mumble before raising it again. "Well?"
"If too much time has passed my sister will have forgotten, or died, or something. I need my revenge whilst she can still rue the consequences." I looked up at him through my lashes, somewhat surprised to see the eerie grin that had found its way to his face.
"Excellent answer. You'll be pleased to know," He rose to his feet suddenly, pulling me along with him and across the room to his work table in the back corner that was cluttered with potions and herbs of all sorts. "She hasnt aged one day over you."
I frowned as he slid a medium sized crystal ball over to me, placing both of his hands on it only to lift them off seconds later. A strange purple and white mist began to swirl inside the ball, slowly fanning out from the center to reveal a moving picture.
A lump formulated in my throat the moment I caught a glimpse of the long blonde hair I hadn't seen since I was a child. Before my eyes a tall, slender girl in a long black, shimmering gown that reached her ankles easily made her across the throne room of a dark looking castle. Black lace sleeves cascaded down her arms, sliding over the tops of her hands a bit, and her hair was loosely braided down her back with a blue ribbon that contrasted oddly with the black.
Everything around her seemed to be made of ice from the walls to the floor to the furniture, though there wasn't much of it in the room aside a from a throne that sat proudly in the back on a raised up platform. She walked for a few more steps before stopping abruptly and turning around, allowing me to see her features more clearly.
She had pale, nearly luminescent skin that shone in the darkness, accentuated with a pink blush on her high cheek bones and on a bit on the tip of her button nose. He face was round but somewhat thin, just like the rest of her build, and her lips were painted a deep red color. My eyes landed on an odd necklace that hung just above the low neckline of her gown. The pendent was black like everything else seemed to be with spikes the jutted out all around it, forming a shape that reminded me of a snowflake.
I lingered on her outfit and necklace for a while longer before finally forcing myself to lift my eyes a bit higher, eventually finding her blue eyes with my green ones. A gasp slipped from my parted lips as I took in the girl I hadn't seen in so long, the girl that use to be my friend, the girl that use to be my sister. "Elsa."
