It's been at least a week since Tate and I stumbled upon the other campsite. It's also been a week since Pan didn't punish me for finding the campsite. The news of both were eating away at me, finding the camp more so than the confrontation with Pan, making me feel as though if I didn't tell someone I'd burst.
I slowly made my way through the trees, glancing up at sun beams that broke through the tree tops, scattering out against the forest floor, reflecting off of the early morning dew drops that slid down the petals of the multi colored flowers. My eyes burned a bit as I looked away from the light as they readjusted, my vision blurring so much so that I didn't see where I was going and walked straight into someone's back.
"You okay?" I heard a familiar voice chuckle as two large hands gripped my upper arms to steady me.
"Yeah, sorry." I laughed, pulling away and smiling lightly up at Felix. "What are you doing out here?"
"Thought I was the first one awake. Didn't have anything better to do. What about you?"
I shrugged, making my way over to a tree log, sitting down slowly and rubbing my sweaty palms against my thighs. I watched as Felix sat beside me, cocking his head to one side. "Okay, what?"
"I didn't say anything." I frowned as he squinted his eyes at me and shook his head.
"You didn't have to. What's been bugging you?"
I took a deep breath, feeling my heart slamming against my chest cavity with each beat. "I found something." I paused, waiting for him to nod before continuing. "And Pan knows I found it, but he doesn't really care."
"Something Pan doesnt care about has to be something really irrelevant." Felix replied, toying with a piece of grass, plucking it out of the ground by his foot and tossing it down.
"Thats the thing, it was pretty big. Im almost positive he doesn't want anyone to know about it."
"Maybe its a test."
"What?" I frowned, watching him carefully.
"Pan tested each of us before we officially became 'lost boys'. They were pretty much all physical stuff though, but maybe because of the whole star crossed love thing he needed to test you differently."
"Psychologically?" He nodded to me, acknowledging my comment and agreeing with it silently. "So, you're saying he wanted me to find the- whatever I found so he could see if I would keep my mouth shut?"
"Pan makes sure that each and every lost boy has their own unique ability, something that would come in useful to him in certain situation basically to reassure himself that no matter what gets thrown at him he always has a secret weapon."
"Okay." I nodded, a bit confused.
"The one thing that we all have in common though is we're all completely loyal to him, no matter what. If you can keep a secret you should have nothing to worry about."
I let out a breath I didnt realize I had been holding with a loud sigh. "Thats just the thing im worried about."
"That hes testing you?"
I glanced up at him with worried eyes, shaking my head. "That I can keep this a secret."
