I walk into the house, my wet shoes squeaking the polished wooden floors. I walk into the kitchen and go to wash my hands in the sink. My foot bumps something. I look down to see Rosie holding a knife and blood across her forehead.

"Rosie?" I ask. I don't know what to do. I get down on my knees when the whole situation hits me in the face.

"Rosie!" I scream. I grab her shoulders and pull her up. She starts to laugh. She doesn't open her eyes, but her smile and her shoulders shaking lets me know she's joking. I let go of her and let her fall to the floor. I look at her disgusted.

"That is not funny!" I yell. Rosie stands up, her lifeless brown eyes locking onto mine.

"I'm laughing." She says. She walks towards the bathroom. Once she's inside she grabs a towel and wets it. She begins slowly dabbing at her face, then violently rubbing at it.

"Well you laugh at dead puppy's and scaring sisters shitless!" I yell. She begins to laugh harder.

"Jeez Man. It was just a joke. Relax." She says before running the towel under the fausset. The fake red blood turns pink under the water. I slam my hand against the wall on the left of the door frame.

"Get a life!" I hiss before pushing my hand off the wall and walking into the kitchen. I throw my bag onto the kitchen table and wash my hands. Dad comes down the stairs and turns the corner. He walks past the bathroom and sees Rosie with red stuff on her face. He continues without stopping and sits at the island. Rosie appears behind dad and looks at me standing behind the island and dad in front of it.

"The island of Misfit Toys." She says widening her eyes with a smile. She turns and walks back towards the stairs. I put my head in my hands. After having a staring competition with dad I decide to call Zoe and tell her I "gave away" of all the fliers. When I tell her the news she squeals. Her being my best friend, she forced me into doing this. But I owed her. She knows I don't like it so knowing that I actually put time into the big flier give away makes her so happy. She says something about coming over for dinner and giving me the rundown for tomorrow's car wash, which is not being canceled. I don't feel like being with dad or Rosie tonight so I tell her to come over as soon as she can.

The opening of the door tells me that Zoe has no fear of entering a house without knocking. She came at a bad time since dad's on the couch, staring at an off tv, not moving. Before she can see the mess I call a father I grab her arm and drag her upstairs.

"I want to say hi to Rosie." She whines as I shut the door.

"She's studying." I say. Zoe nods and wanders around my room. She hasn't been here in awhile. Since mom got the cancer I didn't really want any of my friends or project partners to stop by the house. I've got a radioactive bomb as a sister and a dormant volcano as a dad. Zoe sees Rosie at school but doesn't recognize her. No one really does. My family is no longer the happy family donating our time to help others.
