Chapter 3

As I turned around, I sighed. Relieve flood over me as I saw my best friend face. "Gee, Karen! You scared the crap out of me." I smacked her in her arm.

"You're the one who scared me. You didn't tell me that you're back. I thought it was your ghost or something. Or it was only my illusion that you're here." She said. "I've missed you", she hugged me.

"I've missed you too, Kar. I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you. I thought it would be a great surprise for you and Josh" I said, hugging her tight. I really did missed her, I missed her so so much.

"That's fine. I'm glad that you're back though. I feel like I've lost the other part of me when you're gone." She said with a laughed after we pulled back. "Well you look different." She said, eyeing me.

"Well I am here now, I'm happy to see you again, Kar. And yes I did change a little bit of my style." I said, "So, where is Josh?" I asked her.

"Josh is... I don't know. Maybe he's with Cassie." She said leaning to the lockers. I frowned, what? Josh is hanging out with Cassie?

"What? Cassie like Cassava Bradley?" I asked her.

"Yeah. I was shocked too knowing that they've known each other since I don't even fucking know." She said, sadness clear in her voice.

I always thought that Karen and Josh are going to be ended up together. They've liked each other since I could remember. Josh told me that he likes her, and Karen told me that she likes him. But they've never told each other.

"How did you found out about this? Are they like together now or what?" I asked her.

"I saw them talking in front of her locker back in December. I thought it was only a small talk but they seemed friendly. I don't really mind so I don't even asked Josh. But I don't know if they're together or not. I saw them talking again this morning in the school park. They're so close together." She said to me while looking at her fingers.

"There's no way that they're dating, he likes you." I couldn't help but say that.

She laughed, I frowned again. "Oh Shay, you're so funny. There's no way that he likes me."

What is she talking about? Karen is so beautiful. She had a blonde hair and a pretty blue eyes. She is popular, not like me. Well both Karen and Josh are not like me. We're in a very different society. But they're so nice to me since the first time we met. I met Karen for the first time in the gym class on the 7th grade. She borrowed my shoes for the running test. Since then, we become best friends. We always came to each other's house. She knows all of my secrets, and so do I. On the 9th grade, she started went to the school parties, she always invited me to go with her but I always refused her. And she joined the school cheerleaders, she had a body that everybody wants. She had 2 exes, Arthur and Tyler, both of them didn't attend our school, but they're so hot.

Then I met Josh for the first time at the History class on the 9th grade. I must admit that he was hot. His dark blonde hair and brown eyes is so admiring. He's not really tall for the boys size, only 5 ft 10. We were placed to worked the history project together, since then we become closer and closer. That's when I introduced him to Karen, then we always spending our times together. Josh isn't a playboy kinda boy, but he's cute. Both Karen and Josh are far from nerds, they're two of the cool kids in our school. All of us grown up together but when the social life came in, I am the only one who refused them to came in into my life. I've ever been going to a party for like two times, but its a party that doesn't involve Brody and his friends. I never like night life. Poor me, I know.

"Whatever that you're thinking you need to tell me what it is. But not now, we need to go to the class. We have the same class so come on." Karen said, interrupted my thoughts.

"Why so hurry?" I asked her, the bell doesn't even rang.

"Don't you hear the bell? Gosh come on Shay." She started walking, pulling me with her. Just as we're going to reach the door, I remember something.

"Karen, wait!" I called her.

"What?"

"This is English class right?" I asked her.

"Yes it is. What's the matter?" She asked me, furrowing her eyebrows.

"Aren't we in the same class with Brody?" No no, I'm not ready to see him.

"Yes then why? He's not going to eat you or something, there's nothing to.." She stopped for a second and continue, "Oh my gosh I am so sorry. I forgot about you and him."

"Yea that's okay." I said to her. Well she's not the one who forgot about that.

"I really am sorry. Here's the thing Shay, what happened 6 months ago, would never going to be happening again. You are now stronger than ever. Don't let him get into you. I am here, Josh is here for you. We are always going to be there with you. Don't be afraid, okay?" She said to me, pulling me into a hug. The last time it happened, I've never told the what happened.

"Thanks Karen. You're the best of the best." I said to her, I really mean it.

"I know that." She said after we pulled back. "Now come on. Keep that beautiful head up, girl!"

I laughed in response, walking quickly with her to the class. When we came in, the room haven't packed yet. I seat in the middle, next to the window, Karen sitting next to me. Not long after that, the room is now packed and Mrs. Devine came in to the class. She instructed us to open page 65, she told us to read the page first and she will be explain it to us later. As I read the page, I heard the door clicked open. The sounds of the door makes everyone heads up from the book to see who it is. After that, a tall boy, with the most beautiful face that I ever seen came in to the view.

Its him, Brody. As soon as I saw him, I quickly looking back down to the book. I feel so nervous, Karen saw me and putting her hand to mine.

"Mr. Jenkins, why are you late?" Mrs. Devine asked him.

"Uh I had to go to do something." He answered, still in the same position, standing in front of the class.

"Well what makes you think that the thing that you did is more important than my class?" She asked him.

"Well I had to go to the bathroom so what? Did I have to tell you first if I want to take a wee?" He carried on. Glaring at her.

"Well at least say sorry that you're late Mr. Jenkins, you're lucky that I don't even send you to the principal on the first day of school." She said, glaring back at him. "You may take your seat." She added.

Without saying anything he walked through the aisle, his seat is in the back, in the same row as mine. He walked quickly and his back pack hits my shoulder.

"Oops." He said but keeps walking. I stayed silent, I think he doesn't even realized that I'm back.

"Okay class, close the book I'll explain it to you." Mrs. Devine said to us.

For about an hour later, the bell rang, signaling that its time for lunch. Everyone was already out the door now, including Brody. Karen is waiting for me in front of the door, and I quickly walking towards her.

"I think he doesn't even realized that you're here." She said to me after we walked out the door.

"I hope that he never finds out." Less than 5 months, I'm sure i could make it.

"You know that I love you but I don't think that was even possible." She said to me. "Let's go to the cafeteria." She took my hand and pulled me with her.
