Katniss's POV;
I'm in the arena for a few seconds after the door shuts in my face. The world spins as I look around and admire the deadly forest, so full of life, yet so full of death.
But then I'm back, and Andler has a strong hand on my shoulder. We're standing in the dank basement of my house. My bow is slung over my shoulder and across my back. "We need to leave." He informs me.
I take one last deep breath, and then nod as I make my way towards the stairs. I find a hammer and a pick, I smash them together and break down the redone barrier. After about ten bricks are gone, Kenny the largest of us slams his shoulder into the wall and it falls successfully.
"This way." I order. We turn on our head lamps and start through the tunnels.
"What is this?" Kenny's deep voice bubbles up from his chest. "Where are we?" He asks again.
"We're under district twelve. On our way to the train station." I say quietly shining my flashlight down the tunnel to make sure no one is coming. I turn where I know the next right is, and I hear their heavy tread behind me.
"How do you know where your going?" He asks another question.
"I've used these tunnels countless times, in the first war, when we had to stay hidden, or just when I wanted to her somewhere in the direct and didn't want the paparazzi following me. It gets annoying after a while."
"You have paparazzi?" Andler speaks up.
"Yeah." I nod without thinking.
"Whoa whoa whoa, stop." He grabs my shoulder halting me to a stop. "You forgot to tell me that part." I groan and throw my head back.
"Yeah I did, I'm sorry. It just slipped my mind with all the chaos lately." I say honestly. "With my father's cancer, and the pregnancy, and everything. I just didn't even think about it." I say.
"It's okay." He says.
Even in the pitch black darkness I can still make out Kenny's large figure coming towards me. "Take this." He strips off his jacket and hands it to me. I wrap it around myself and zip it up. "Better?" Kenny asks Andler.
"Yeah. Let's go now."
"Where are we off to anyways?" Kenny asks us. "Which district?"
"Seven." He says.
"But didn't they just attack there?" I ask.
"Which means they won't suspect it if we go back to it." Andler says deviously. I see the sign for the stairs to the train station, and I walk up them first to look. I duck my head back inside the dank dark tunnel. I turn forgetting Gale was here. Why is he so quiet?
"Gale." I speak up. "Where are you?"
"I'm here."
"Okay." I nod. I shine my flashlight through the piercing darkness and find it's clear. I jump through the whole and help everyone through as I wait.
We sprint to the train, and walk into an empty one. "We need to go." I say wearily.
"I got this." Gale speaks up going to the front of the train, and I lean against a wall to catch my breath.
"You okay?" Andler asks as I twirl the necklace round in my fingers.
"I regret this." I whisper. "I shouldn't have come, it isn't safe for me or the twins." I whisper into my fingers.
All of a sudden the train comes to life, all of it's lights powering on. "Let's go" Gale breaths pushing me into the train with a soft hand on my back.
I sit in the corner, furthest from the door, and Gale comes next to me. He places a hand on my stomach just before the trains jerks to a start. "How's the twins?" He asks with a straight face looking at the two men across from us.
"Their fine, little hungry right now. But they'll be fine for now." I smile a little, and finally get adjusted to the intense speed of the train.
"What's the game plan?" Gale speaks up digging through his bag. He hands me a granola bar, and I devour it in a few quick bites. "What happens when we get to seven?"
"Well, we'll have to go have a meeting with the chief. And then, we'll see what happens after that." Andler says, with his large hat covering his face as he lies on the bench seat.
"So your saying you don't have a plan?" Gale asks irritated. "She's pregnant, did you think about that at all?" He asks.
"We did, and we have a plan. Which we cannot speak of until we get into our base, where we can speak without worrying of the outsiders hearing us." He says. "Everybody get some sleep, got a four hour ride a head of us."
I yawn, and lean onto Gale's shoulder. He leans back, gently and slowly he lays my head on his legs and I fall asleep instantly.
I dream of my Peeta, and Rye. Us in the grassy, sunny meadow two babies in both Peeta and I's arms. The newest editions to our growing family. I'm pleasantly surprised to have no nightmares that slumber.
I wake with a startle, my head falls off Gale's lap as he stands. "Katniss!" He calls. "We need to go! Now!" I stand pulling on my backpack and look at him.
"The conductor called the police, we have to jump." Andler says fixing his hat.
"Jump?"
Gale sticks his head out of the moving train, and points. "Onto the rooftop, we have to if we want to get out of here alive."
Not even a day into the 'adventure', and someone already wants to kill us. "Where are we jumping to?"
Gale points again. "There."
"It's important that once you hit the rooftop, to roll." Kenny says zipping his jacket.
"3 ... 2 ... 1, Go Ken!" Andler says before he pushes Kenny out of the train. He's out of our view in a second, then Gale looks at me.
"I'll catch you, come on." Then he's gone, onto the rooftop.
"You don't go now, you won't go ever girl on fire. You better get going."
I take a deep breath, my legs carry me to the edge of the train and I leap off. I smash into the roof, it's covered in small gravel and stones.
I lay my head one the stones, and my vision behind to falter. "Katniss!" Gale exclaims. He lifts me and stands me up. "Are you okay?"
I nod. "I'm fine."
"Well let's get going." Andler says right after he jumps into the roof. "They know we're here, they'll be here in minuets, that's if they aren't already here now."
To the stairs, because we're on the roof we have over twenty flights of them. Halfway down, my knees buckle.
And I plunge into unconsciousness, filled with nothing but darkness.
