It was Autumn time, dead leaves falling from the oaks next to the rows of houses, it was...beautiful.
"Ready to go?"
Lewis said locking the door to what I knew as home. I nodded and wrapped my arm around his, almost scared that if I didn't, he'd disappear, he and what I read from the books was all I knew. I guess it was a good thing that we were heading to the book store. The walk took about 5 minutes, all the while I was observing everything around me. The trees, and the small playground in the distance with a few kids sliding and climbing all over it. I giggled at the sight; it was so...innocent and curious.
"Can we go play on that when we go back home?"
I asked Lewis and he laughed, we paused in our tracks and he smiled at me,
"Sure, if it's not too dark."
I beamed, my heart pounding and I giggled in excitement, I tried pulling him along and that triggered him to start laughing. As we reached the bookstore I took a mental note of its appearance within my data- brain. My smile faded, why I keep saying human substitutions of robotic innards. Lewis seemed to notice my displeasure and pulled me into a hug.
"You alright Kam?"
I buried my face into his chest; I experienced so much in only a matter of minutes. I, wanted to go home, but at the same time I didn't. I sighed; so many emotions were filling me. Somehow Lewis was able to calm my nerves and we entered the store. We were greeted by a brunette in a big fluffy scarf, and Lewis led me around the store, occasionally we picked up a book or two. We sat down in the chairs next to the fireplace. Keeping Lewis in my sight I saw him walk to the counter and ask something he sat back down in his chair and we began to read the various books we found. A few minutes later the brunette placed something down on the table and walked away; looking away from the book I saw a cup filled with something hot, tea. Lewis had ordered a tea and began drinking it; once he caught me looking he looked at the cup, then at me.
"Do you want to try?"
He asked as he held the cup out to me, nodding I gently took the cup. The heat from the freshly brewed tea warmed my hands, rising the cup to my lips I cautiously took a sip. It was nothing I had ever experienced, the sweetness, the liquid pouring down my throat, the warmth it left. I was star struck, I felt a hand touch my cheek, looking up it was Lewis, and a calm, sweet smile on his face.
"You can keep that one; it was a bit too sweet for my taste. I'll be right back."
I nodded as he went to go order another tea, leaving in the comfort and warmth of my books, the fireplace, and my tea. Sipping the tea and returning my book, I felt something...that longing, I felt alive, smiling I relaxed into the chair next to Lewis, and never wanted to leave.
