A/N: What's your favorite show on Netflix? I need a new one to binge watch.
Picture of Fransisco attached.
"Vamos a la playa!" (Let's go to the beach!) I yell as we fly down the street. I open the top of the car to reveal a convertible. I sneak a glance at Francisco and watch as his eyes dart around the car and outside in awe. We reach sunset boulevard and I look at Francisco when we stop at a light.
"¿Te gusta Beverly Hills?" (Do you like Beverly Hills?) I question Francisco, pretty sure I know the answer because I see the look of awe in his eyes.
"Me gusta? Me encanta!" (Like it? I love it!) He exclaims. "¡No hay nada como este donde vivo!" (There is nothing like this where I live!) I laugh because he looks like a lost puppy with his mouth slightly ajar.
I just drive as the light turns green and make a turn to drive alongside the coast on Route 1, Pacific Coast Highway. I park on Santa Monica State Beach, not one of my favorites because it is always crowded with tourists, but it is a good first beach for Francisco. Plus, it has a really good bar, Honor Bar.
"Estamos aqui. Santa Monica Beach! La playa es the beach en inglés." (We are here! The beach is the beach in english.) I explain to Francisco as we exit the car. I'm glad I shaved this morning because there are a lot of guys on this beach. I wonder if this where before the summer ends party is.
We walk down the steps to the sand after I paid the entrance fee of $10. I say hi to a couple guys from my school as I realize this is just a hangout with some of the guys before the summer ends. The other guys here don't go to our school.
"Hey Brad." I say as I walk up to the guys from our school.
"Hi Cat." Brad and some of the other guys acknowledge me. "Who is he?" Brad nods his head to Francisco.
"Francisco esto es Brad, un amigo de mi escuela." I introduce Francisco to Brad and I do the same for Brad, "Brad this is Francisco, an exchange student from our school. He is staying with Issac, but Issac went out somewhere. Probably to get drunk one more time before school." I end with a laugh.
"Hola Francisco. Como estás?" (Hello, how are you?) Brad says to Francisco with a terrible spanish accent, as he doesn't take a language. I bite my lip to hold in my laugh.
"Hello. I am good." Francisco says back with a terrible American accent. When Brad does it, it looks stupid, but when Francisco does it, it is cute.
I push up my sunglasses to the top of my head and glance down at the water. "Holy shit." I whisper to myself.
"What?" Brad asks me.
"Jake is here, I cannot be here." I explain that my ex is on this same beach.
"Oh come on Cat, you can not let him tell you where you can and cannot hang out."
"No, you don't understand. I can't be near him, it's not good for my health."
"What are you going to do when school starts? Are you gonna hide in terror every time he walks down the same hallway as you?"
"Yes! He better not be in any of my classes."
"Cat, you shouldn't be scared of him."
"I am not scared of him!" I defend myself and look at Francisco to make sure he doesn't look uncomfortable. He looks slightly uncomfortable but I'm not surprised. Brad and I are practically having a whisper fight.
"Actually, you know what, you're right. I can't let him walk over me." I gain new confidence.
"Hell yeah I'm right."
