Chapter 3:"He heard everything from the faintest of whispers to the loudest of deafening screams... But there was only one voice that he needed to hear. Will he ever hear it again?"

October 8, 1890,
Magnolia, Fiore.
Kardia Cathedrale.
Ten years ago, he had been taken away from Kinana... But not one day out of all those had he spent without thinking of her at night. He still missed those sweet songs she used to sing to him when he couldn't sleep... her voice.
It was her voice that had first drawn him to her and that voice still lingered in his ears. He missed her deeply. For seven years, he had been imprisoned. Those were days when he was driven mad by the sound of silence jarring in his ears.
But before he was imprisoned, he had been through much, emotionally. He had felt a sudden premonition about Kinana and was left in tremulous apprehention just as that one moment's distraction had rendered him defeat in the battle he had been fighting. Then, he had been taken along with his friends to prison.
Just then, he had heard Brain betray him. He had disowned Cobra for losing a battle. That was no love. Cobra knew since then that he could not trust anyone. Brain, Jellal, Erza... anyone.
And there was only one person he still loved. He had been thinking of her all his life. The years in prison had beckoned him to constantly contemplate about her...and that continued to grow. Now, he needed to see her, to hear her. Desperately.
He had franctically searched for her as soon as he had been released. It had been only seven days of search but he hadn't found her. He had returned to the Tower but had found it abandoned. He had run through every corner of it's ruins with distant hopes of finding her there. But she wasn't there. She was gone. He had cried out to her in desperation if she would hear him and come. But she didn't.
Had he lost her forever? He had looked around with tears streaming down his face and only illusions of painful memories danced around him. He had fallen to his knees when he had remembered how she had lost her strength where they had been pushing steel bars and he had lifted her before she had gone to the kitchen deparment.
He had cried aloud for her as he saw the ruins where they had once slept... She had brought him food every night and he had put her to sleep. Some other nights, she would sing him to sleep. He didn't know where to look. It was a huge world.
She could be anywhere and he needed to find her. He still remembered her beautiful voice and longed to hear it again. A strong surge of fear gripped him when he thought of what it would be if she was no more. She was very fragile and anything could have happened to her over the years.
He had come to Magnolia to look for 'Fairy Tail'. An old man, Rob, had once told them about this place when they were in the Tower and Cobra wondered if he could find Kinana there. She must've been absolutely lost and that could be the only place she might've known.
This was his only chance at finding her... And he hoped against hope to find her, really soon. There was a great emptiness inside him that he couldn't quite tell... But he knew that it was that part of his existence that belonged to Kinana that was so forsaken...
Cobra looked at the majestic building that stood before him. It was one of the oldest structures in Magnolia and was a recognised landmark. He stepped in as he admired the beauty of it's interiors. It was a very calm place... Which was a contrast to where it was situated. Magnolia was anything but. He went over to a corner and folded his arms. A gentle breeze blew the tall collars of his coat on his face as he bowed his head in reverent prayer.
Dear Lord, I am delirious to see Kinana again... My prayer is to hear the voice of my one friend...
Just then, someone entered and Cobra paused. He bent his head low and looked slightly over his shoulder. His view only partially granted what he needed to see... So he closed his eyes and continued. His ears listened though: footsteps echoing, heartbeat steady, and... A clock?
Someone had come over to bid prayers. Then he heard: "Dear Lord,..." And his heart did a flip. He couldn't believe what he heard.
